Revenge!

Episode 1 by Excel

Igwe Obama looked at his wife and saw the terrified look on her face, he looked at his 7years old daughter and then his 5years old son, he saw fear all over them, he could hear the cry of his people as they were been slaughtered one after the other and the wailing and shouting was getting closer and closer.

He knew that sooner or later they would arrive at where he was with his family. He was confused, he didnt know what to do? This attack on his village was unexpected and that was why they were been killed. He still didnt understand why King AZAZA sent his warriors to attack and wipe away his land. The people of OKU and EKEH had always lived in peace. And then this night this war had started unexpectedly. He was yet to understand what was going on. He was on his bed when one of the guards ran to him and took him into this safe room with his wife and kids, and the maiden who always took care of his kids for the queen.

The guard had told him that they were on watch over the village when the warriors of OKU stormed their land, and started slaughtering them, and setting houses ablaze, killing men and women. He said the chief warrior and the other warriors fought fearlessly before they were finally defeated by the OKU warriors. And that the chief warrior had sent him back to bring him to safety just before he died. King Obama was yet to understand what the warrior was saying but he followed him along side his family into the safe room and now the warriors were fastly approaching the room.

King Obama, was still lost in his thoughts when the guard interrupted him again. ”Igwe, we cant stay here, we have to leave right now.It seemed like the igwe was deaf to what the guard had said.

”Igwe, did you hear what I said? Please we have to live right now, the boys have broken the inner chamber and in few seconds they will come in here, we have to leave right now. ”

Igwe Obama turned and looked at the guard, he drew a sword and said to him. ”Take my family to safety, I cannot leave this place. This is the land my forefather’s handed over to my father who then handed it over to me, I cannot leave and desert my people. Igwe, the guard said, but you will be killed……, igwe Obama drew a sword and turned to the guard and said, then I will die a proud man. Let it be known that IGWE OBAMA 1 OF EKEH KINGDOM, died in battle, rather than a shameful story of the coward Igwe who ran and abandoned his people in times of war, go now and take my family to safety.

At that moment, the queen drew a sword, my husband , my king, the bravest of all the men I’ve ever known, where you are there I will be. I live and die with you. I will defend our people with you. Igwe Obama held her hands and smiled, Queen Nwoko has always been a brave and strong woman and that was why he loved and married her. He tried to convince her to go with the guard and her maid with the kids but all his trials proved abortive and so he let her be. The guard turned to the igwe and said. ”I dedicated my life to serve you, and if you must stand and fight then I will stand and fight with you till the death…..”no Igwe shouted, you will take my children and you will bring them to safety and that’s an order. Yes Igwe he replied! And made to leave with the little Prince and princess who were by now crying. The igwe and his queen took their turns to hug the children and the igwe spoke to his five years old son as if he were a man. My son, from now on take very good care of your sister, you are leaving the land of your father but one day you must return to take your place as the king of the land. Be strong, be bold and most importantly REVENGE! you must take revenge for all of this. To his daughter he said, you must take care of your brother and you must make sure he returns to take his throne. I love u. Then he removed his Royal ring and handed it over to his daughter. His staff he gave to his son. The queen held unto her maid and said. Love them like your own, to the guard she said, guard them with your life. She kissed them and then asked them to go. The guard carried the little boy, while the maid carried the princess and then they left through the secret door. Just almost immediately the warriors broke the door and came face to face with the queen and king.

King Obama and his wife fought with all their strength, taking down 17warriors, but at the end they gave in to the warriors who stabbed the igwe countlessly on his stomach and the queen on her neck. They fell on each other while holding their hands together as they drew their last breath!

Episode 2

Prince Nnamdi was furious when he heard of what his father had done, the sound of his voice could tear down a building. ”Father! Father! Father! Where are you? As he screamed, he was searching around looking for his father. The guard’s and the palace maidens all gave way for him as he approached.

Prince Nnamdi was loving and nice to all but they’ve all understood that when he is angry he does things that cannot be comprehended. He stormed the palace and saw his father KING AZAZA gallantly witted on his throne.

”Father why? Why did you do it”?

King AZAZA: Do what?

Prince Nnamdi: oh dad please, you know what I am talking about.

King AZAZA: no I don’t, so please tell me

Prince Nnamdi: Father you ordered for the entire kingdom of EKEH to be wiped out. Men. Children, women, boys and girls you ordered for all of them to be killed, father why? OKU and EKEH are brothers, we’ve lived in peace and harmony for years. King OBAMA was your friend, your very good friend, your wife the queen my mother is from EKEH, yet you ordered that the entire village be wiped out. What kind of a man are you?

KING AZAZA: Shut up boy, you will talk to me with topmost respect. You will respect me as your father and king. He stood up angrily and raised his hand ready to strike the Prince, but then he dropped his hand again before he continued. Did you even bother to know why I made the decision I made? Now listen to me.

As a king there are decisions you make even if people condemn you, you just have to make them. No matter what the world may think of you, you must put the safety of your people first above anything.

Prince Nnamdi: Father, sorry I spoke rudely to you, for that I apologise but I really want to know, why you ordered for a whole village to be wiped out including your friend!

King Azaza: my son, I had to act fast. I got a first hand information that KING OBAMA was planning an attack on our village. His warriors were supposed to attack us in a fourth night. The plan was to wipe out our entire land and claim our village. And so I had to attack first so to give them the surprise of what they intended for me.

Prince Nnamdi: dad, who gave you this first hand information? And please did u confirm before attacking.

King AZAZA: I do not need to confirm it was a reliable source. Its the kings right hand man, someone he trusts that gave me that info and its my duty to protect him for I have already given him my word to protect him.

Prince Nnamdi: Dad, am so surprised at you. You didnt train me like this. You taught me to be very smart and wise before I take decisions yet you of all acted on mere rumours.

King AZAZA: they are not mere rumours, its the king right hand man who told me, someone he trusts……

Prince AZAZA: how could you take the words of a betrayer and act on them, without first confirming. How can you order for blood to be on your hands without first confirming. Do you know if he lied to you? What if he is envious of the kings position, and he fabricated the story up so you will act exactly the way you have just acted.

King AZAZA: bu bu bu, the king stammered staring around him in search of nothing….

Prince Nnamdi: dad, you just made a terrible mistake that you cannot rectify, you just spilled blood on your hands without first verifying, you just killed your friend for nothing. And a man who can betray the trust of another man will one day betray your trust.

The Prince turned and walked away, he was highly disappointed in his dad, and for the first time in 4years since the queen passed on, this was the first time he argued with his father.

Somehow the king knew his son was telling the truth, and he wanted to quickly change his command but he knew it was too late, he thought of sending for OJAKOR the man who had brought the information to him, but he remembered that he had sent him and his family out of the country as required of OJAKOR.

The king bowed his head in deep thought, as he hoped he had not made a great mistake!

Do you think the king acted wise?

REVENGE!

Episode 3

The guard and maid carried the young prince and princess far far into the forest, they know they were been pursued, but they’ve given the warriors a good distance and it was already very late in the night. The whole place was dark and they could barely see. The guard suggested they sit a bit and rest to at least catch their breath. The maid who was quiet exhausted quickly agreed and they all sat quietly under a very big iroko tree.

There was a very huge silence between them. The young prince held on tightly to the maid, resting his head on her breast, the maid held him back and thought about the last words of the queen, she remembered how nice the queen was to her and the villagers, she remembered all the good things the queen used to give to her, she thought about her own family and how they would all be dead by now, and Yeats flowers from her eyes. The guard turned and looked at her, he didnt bother to console her, because he had also lost his family, his mother and only son. He had ran to his house before the igwe palace, and he saw one of the warriors slit his sons throat right before his eyes, he watched as his mom was burnt in his hut, he had seen all of this before he ran to the igwe palace, and so he understood why she was crying. So he allowed her cry in peace. He closed his eyes for a while and allowed sleep take over.

He had barely slept for 25minutes when he heard the warriors approaching. He jumped from his sleep and woke the maid up, together they carried the Prince and princess and started running deep down into the bush with the OKU warriors chasing behind.

The guard realized that running would not help them, he has to fight, and so he dropped the princess and told the maid to take her and run. ”Don’t stop running, run till you get to safety, now go he commanded. She clinged the Prince on her back and held the princess with her other hand and they ran without looking back, grasses tore her skin but she didnt stop, she kept running with no direction.

Meanwhile the guard stood firm with his sword. He knew he had to divert the warriors from following the Prince and princess. And in few seconds he was standing face to face with them. They were a total of eight. They stood round him making him stand in thier middle. And the one who seemed to be their leader finally broke the silence between them.

Warrior Head: where are they? (the guard was silent) I ask you again, where are they?

Guard: where is who?

Warrior Head : where is the Prince and Princess of EKEH?

Guard: I don’t know what you are talking about?

Warrior Head: don’t play me for a fool, we know you were in that room with the igwe and his wife and the children, now speak up where are they? Speak up so we can give you a painless death.

Guard: I don’t need your painless death, and I don’t know where the Prince and Princess are.

The warrior let out a wicked laugh, he knew the guard was lying.

Warrior Head: Let me ask you, how far do you think they can go? I just want to make things easy for you that’s why I am asking, so it will do you well to just point them out for us for the peace of everyone here.

Guard: cowards, that’s what you are, cowards. You attack an unsuspecting village because you are cowards. You attack a village that has no conflict with you at night. You would have given us at least a day to prepare, then see if you can best us in battle. But because you are cowards you attack at night an unsuspecting village.

Warrior Head: Fools that’s what you are, any village is supposed to be ready for war at all times, no village is friends with another. Your village suffers because you are all fools, including your igwe and his wife. Then he suddenly burst out laughing and then he continued, did I tell you they are both dead? Yes they are both dead, they died by my hands, and if you don’t speak up you will soon join them.

Guard: My igwe and his wife are heroes, they died defending the land and that is what they will be known for, for all eternity, their stories will be heard, their praises will be sang, but your igwe will be known for his wickedness and inhumanity, now I ask you, who truly is a winner. OKU or EKEH?

Warrior Head: shut up you fool, you have chosen to die a painful death. I tell you, the young boy and girl whom you are trying to protect will eventually be found and killed and your precious EKEH will then be wiped out completely.

Guard: You will never find them, I tell you, you will never find them and one day, they will return to their fathers land and take that which rightly belongs to them, your children will perish, OKU will be laid to waste. Your king will kneel and beg to be forgiven. And you will be there to witness the result of a sweet revenge!

Warrior Head: warriors kill him………..he ordered,

And the guard fought and struggled, he killed one and then two and then three before he was finally stabbed by the warrior head on his back. As he fell he screamed with a loud voice that even the maid, the Prince and the princess heard him.

Guard: Protect themmmmmmm. Keep them safeeee and when its time, they must REVENGE!

The maid knew the message was for her and she knew that he had been killed. She was frightened, but she never stopped running, she continued to run with the children.

The warriors were already tired, but they continued with their search, scattering themselves in different directions all over the forest!

Episode 4

Princess: wait, wait, please wait, I am tired, I am thirsty, I can’t run anymore, I want water.

Maid: My princess, please just a little farther, we cant stop now.

Princess: But I’m tired, I can’t go further, I need water.

Prince: Even me, I need water.

Maid: Okay let’s rest for a while, before we continue. Maybe we will get water on our way.

But then the prince began to cry, from the look on his face, one could see he was really dehydrated.

Princess: Aunty we ran past a stream a while ago, I saw it when we were running, why don’t we go back and drink from there.

Maid: my princess, its too risky, we can’t go back. We have to keep going forward.

Princess: But I really need water, and my brother needs water too.

Prince: Yes! I need water

The maid thought for a while and then decided to go back and get water for the children. But just as she was about to leave the Prince started crying, he didn't want her to leave and the maid didn't want all of them to go together. But he didn't want to let her go and since she didn't want the princess to go alone she decided to let the children follow her.

When they got to the stream, they had enough water to drink and set on their journey. The maid carried the Prince and asked the princess to walk as fast as possible.

While they were going, the princess saw an empty keg on the ground and picked it up. ”I could fill this keg with water ” she thought to herself, and without telling the maid she ran back to the stream to fill up the keg with water. The maid had gone a little forward before realizing that the little princess was not with her.

Maid: my princess, my princess, she shouted and ran back towards the stream.

Meanwhile princess had already filled the keg and was running back to the maid and the prince. Just as she was running, she tripped on a wood and fell on a small pit, she let out a loud cry. As she was struggling to stand up, a big hand pulled her out from the pit. The maid already got there but immediately she saw them she kept quiet and hid behind the bushes pressing her hand against the mouth of the Prince.

Warrior Head: Young girl who are you and what are you doing in these part of the bush.

The princess was terrified, because she knew and recognized them as OKU warriors. The same people they were trying to run away from.

Princess: I I I, I I came to get water. She said raising the keg of water on her hand.

Just then the warrior saw the royal ring that king OBAMA had given to her…

Warrior Head: aha! So its you, guys, he called out to the other warriors. ”guess who we have here?”

The rest of the warriors gathered around to see what their head was talking about.

Warrior Head: its the princess, daughter of OBAMA, handed over into our hands by the gods themselves.

One of the warriors, looked at the little girl in surprise and asked. ”This is the princess we have been chasing? But she is just a child.

Warrior Head: Yes Aguyi, she is just a child.

Aguyi: Princess how old are you?

Princess: I am seven years old.

Aguyi turned to the head warrior and said, ”so you mean we have been chasing a seven Years old child?

Warrior Head: shut up Aguyi. The order was to wipe out every living thing from EKEH, be it an adult or a child. Then he turned and face the princess. Young girl, where is your brother?

Princess: please don’t kill me, I beg you. She started crying, she has seen the maid and the prince hiding, and she has seen the maid shake her head in the negative as a sign for her not to tell them anything, and this made her cry the more. Please don’t kill me, she kept on begging.

Warrior Head: I will not kill you, infact I will take you to our igwe and you will live in the palace like the princess that you are, and even your brother will be well taken care of, just tell me where he is.

Princess: my brother is already dead sir.

Warrior Head: what do you mean? What are you talking about?

Princess: he didn't leave with us, one of the maids carried him and he's in one of the rooms in the palace, before we left, I saw your men set that room on fire, so my brother is already dead.

The warrior head looked at her for a while and ordered that they bring her along with them back to the village.

It was Aguyi who carried her on his shoulder and they turned and walked back to the village. The maid who was hiding all this while, watching the whole scenario, carried the Prince and followed them behind. Her heart was shattered, she was scared, she didn't know what was going to happen to the princess. She lamented why the princess go back to the stream.

Prince: Will she be okay?he asked her

Maid: I don’t know my prince, I really don’t know.

She held him close and walked silently behind the warriors, hiding at intervals from being seen.

Revenge!

Episode 5

The maid followed the warriors into OKU village. She wanted to see and know where they are taking the princess to. At a point the warrior head stood and turned back, and the warriors asked him what was wrong. He told them that he felt they were being followed, and after looking round for a while they continued.

The villagers on seeing them greeted them. Some were excited to see them, others were frowning their faces at them but they still greeted. There were murmurs among some old women and men, some were pointing at the little girl that AGUYI carried on his neck but no one dared to ask any question. The warriors proceeded on their way to the palace, with the maid running and hiding behind. And just about four more huts before the palace, the warrior head ordered them to stop.

Aguyi: what is it this time?

Warrior head: we are being followed.

Aguyi: I thought you’ve said that before….

Warrior Head: This time, I’m certain, we are been followed.

Aguyi: But who will dare follow a group of warriors coming from battle and at what aim?

Warrior Head: relax Aguyi my friend, we will soon find out.

With this he turned and started walking backwards with his eyes rotating round and round in search of whoever or whatever was following them.

The maid was terrified, she couldn’t run. And there was no good place to hide. And the warrior head was approaching her direction. She knew this time she would be caught and if she is caught she will be killed, so she decided to step out instead of waiting to be caught. But just as she was about to do so, she saw a woman open the room to her hut and signaled her to come in quickly. Without thinking twice the maid ran into the hut and shut the door.

The warrior head looked round the whole place and saw no one.

Aguyi: Have u satisfied yourself now? Please can we just go to the palace, I have a wife to return to.

Warrior Head: I still don’t understand this, I could have sworn that we were been followed.

Aguyi: thank the gods you didn't swear, now let’s go.

And they all proceeded to the igwe’s palace. The igwe and some of his cabinet were sited. The warriors knelt down and greeted the igwe.

Warrior Head: Long live the king. Igwe we have gone to the land of EKEH, and we have done that which you ordered. King Obama, his wife and all his people are dead. Not a life was spared, and no property was conserved!

King AZAZA:And the little girl with you? Who is she?

Warrior Head: This is the only survivor of EKEH kingdom, the only daughter of king Obama. We don’t know how she managed to escape from the village during the war. But we caught her why she was still running. Her brother the Prince and heir to the throne of EKEH, is already dead. We do not know what to do with her hence we brought her back for you the igwe to decide.

Princess: So you are the king who ordered that my father and mother be killed, the gods will not spare you.

King AZAZA: shut up you insolent brat. (Turning to the warrior he said) take her to the back of the palace and tie her there until I decide with my chiefs what to do with her.

Warrior Head: yes igwe. (Turning to Aguyi) follow me .

And they took the princess to the back of the shrine and tied her down. As they left, Aguyi turned and looked at the little girl once more. He was surprised at her bravery and how she could talk to king AZAZA. No one in the village dare speak out when AZAZA coughs and yet this small girl talked back at him. He admired her bravery and strength.

Warrior head: Aguyiiiiii, what are you thinking of? I thought you said your wife was waiting,

Aguyi: of course she is (he replied as he turned and walked away)

The elders and king AZAZA sat and deliberated on what to do with the little girl. Majority suggested that she should be spared since she was just a child, but a few suggested that she be killed along side with her parents. Amongst them was chief Obi, a known wicked man in the village but best friends with the king because of his ability to bring gossips and stories to the igwe.

Chief Obi: Igwe, it’s not like am not having human sympathy o, or I don’t know the girl is just a child o, but you see children like this, they carry grudges for long, see the way that girl spoke to you our own igwe some moments ago, it shows that she has a tough spirit. Do you think if you keep her alive she wouldn’t hate you? Or want to avenge her family in the future?

Igwe I would say we kill her for your own safety o, and that of your children and this village at large. That girl is a viper and will one day strike if we don’t do anything right now. (As he spoke he made more sense to the igwe than those who suggested that the princess be spared) and so once again king AZAZA made up his mind to kill the princess by midday the next day.

He would make the announcement in the morning. He dismissed the elders and went straight to his room, he knew his son NNAMDI will want to oppose him and right now that was the last thing he needed.

Episode 6

The maid sat quietly at one end of the hut with the prince still clenched to her bosom. She stared at the woman who had just saved her from the warriors, she didn't know the reason this woman had saved her and so she was still very vigilant. The woman after making sure that the warriors were properly gone came back into the hut and sat opposite the maid. And then she began, ”My name is Ajuwe, and I saw you following the warriors, I knew you were also hiding from them not to be seen, I also knew that if OKONJI the warrior head had seen you, you would be dead by now already, and so I want to know, why were you following the warriors of OKU whom we all very well know are just returning from battle”. The maid looked at her over and over again, she wasn’t sure if to talk or not, and it was as if AJUWE read her thoughts.

Ajuwe: you don’t need to be afraid of me, infact you can trust me that for once I will not surrender you to be killed, but first you have to tell me who you are and why you were following the warriors of our land.

Maid: My name is Nina, the warriors took my…..(she wanted to talk but suddenly kept quiet again?

Ajuwe: Look my dear, I understand if you are scared, I will not bother you for now. Rest for a while, have some food and also give some to the little boy, later when you are relaxed and you are ready to talk to me, I will be here to listen.

Nina: Thank you so much ma!

(Ajuwe dished out some food for Nina and the boy, she watched as they ate like hungry lions) the little boy slept off while eating, Ajuwe helped lay him on the wooden bed to sleep. After which she gave Nina some fresh water to have her bath. Nina didn't want to leave the Prince, so she made sure to wash up at a place where she could still monitor Ahuwe and the prince. When she was through she was a little bit relaxed. She sat down close to Ajuwe, who understood that the young girl was finally ready to talk.

Nina: Thank you very much for you kindness, my name is Nina, and I am not from this village.

Ajuwe: I already know you are not from this village, and I also know that the little boy you carry is a prince. (Nina quickly jumped up as if to run) oh my dear, don’t be scared. I only found out he was a prince when I laid him to bed, his clothes are royal and he held in his hand a Royal staff that only kings hold. So my guess is you are from EKEH village and the little boy is the Prince of EKEH! (Nina said nothing, but stared at Ajuwe as she spoke ) you see, many of us are not in support of what king AZAZA did. But who are we to question the decision of the king. Our king is a good man, or rather I will say he used to be a good man, but he surrounded himself with men who are evil, he listened to their counsel, and those men are what will lead him to his doom.

Our igwe now takes his decisions based on what he hears not bothering to confirm if they were true or rumor.

Nina: but ma, what did we do to him? Our village did nothing to him, our king was a great and kind man, and your king was his friend, why did he do this?

Ajuwe: My dear, the king acted on what he heard. That your igwe was planning an attack on our land.

Nina: An attack? But that’s not true? Why would EKEH attack OKU?

Ajuwe: you may not know but there is gold in OKU, only few people know of this and those few men includes your king. And so when king Azaza heard from a neutral man that king Obama was planning an attack because he wants to take possession of the gold in the land, he believed it because the man wouldn’t have known of the gold if he was not told.

Nina: But its no secret that OKU is filled with gold na.

Ajuwe: what do you mean its no secret? Did you also know that our land has gold?

Nina: of course I know your land had gold, everyone knows your land has gold.

Ajuwe: so how did you know it?

Nina: Haaa! Was it meant to be a secret? Because if it was, then I must say your igwe is one hell of a secret keeper.

Ajuwe: how do you mean my child?

Nina: Am a maiden in my village, I was the head maiden to our beloved queen. And so I am opportuned to be close to her at all times including during big functions.

During the crowning and naming of our Prince had the heir to the throne, your igwe and other igwes were invited by our igwe. It was a big celebration, there were lot to eat and drink with so many people, royalties and civils.

Your igwe whom I believed had too much to drink couldn’t stop bragging as the richest king in the realm. He announced it himself that his land was full of gold and non can challenge him when it comes to wealth. So I am really surprised now at you saying it was a secret. Because it was your king who by himself announced it that his land is flooded with gold. (Ajuwe shook his head in silence?

Ajuwe: I knew that king Obama was innocent of all that was labelled against him. I knew it. But it was your own kins man that sold you out. I do not know him hut I’ve heard that the igwe sent him and his family overseas before he made the attack on your village.

Nina: My Queen left the Prince and princess under my care, and now they’ve taken the princess, what will they do to her?

Ajuwe: But you are just a child, how old are you?

Nina: I’m 19years old ma.

Ajuwe: But how can she leave them under your care, when you also need to be under someone’s care. (Nina started crying?

Nina: There is no one else, they killed everyone, including my parents, brothers and sisters. Its just me and the children in the whole of EKEH! (Ajuwe was surprised, she put her hands in her mouth to stop herself from crying out loud, and then she held Nina to herself as she cried with her)

Nina: what will they do to her? What will they do to my princess?

Ajuwe: I do not know, I don’t know what AZAZA will decide. But in the morning we will find out. For now you have to remove those clothes from the boy, and the staff you must hide and keep it safe for him until he is a man and able to handle the truth and keep it himself. Tomorrow I will find out what AZAZA has decided to do with the princess. But until then you must stay indoors and avoid to be seen by any. Do you understand?

Nina: why have you decided to help us?

Ajuwe: Nina, I am 43years old, I have no child of my own, my husband died 6years ago and since then I’ve been alone. Now that the gods brought you to my home do you think I’d prefer to die lonely and alone?

Nina: Thank you so much for everything!

Ajuwe: sleep well my child, the gods will smile on us….

They both laid down and slept close to the Prince. It took Nina another two hours before she slept off. And that night she dreamt that she was at EKEH, and the queen and King were still alive and there was peace and happiness all around. If only wishes were horses;

Revenge!

Episode 7.

King AZAZA could not sleep that night, he kept seeing himself kneeling down before the princess with his hands and feet tied. And then he kept seeing the Princess give an order for him to be beheaded. Twice he screamed from his sleep before he finally decided not to sleep anymore.

In the morning, he had his council of elders gathered, and then he sent the town crier to announce that the people should gather at his palace.

When Ajuwe heard this, she quickly ran inside to inform Nina. They carried the boy and changed his clothing and hurried to the palace. Ajuwe had cautioned Nina not to speak to anyone. When they arrived at the palace, a small crowd was there. Everywhere was silent you can hear a pin drop.

Prince Nnamdi didn’t understand why his father had called for this gathering, he kept pestering him to tell him why, but the king insisted that he will hear at the gathering. And so he followed him and sat beside him as he took his seat on the throne. Nina and the Prince kept stretching to see if the princess was there. The warriors of OKU were all present with their families. Finally the King spoke.

King AZAZA: People of OKU, I greet you, as we all know a lot has happened in the last few days. A village and its people who planned on attacking and killing us and stealing our gold was attacked by us and defeated by us. (there was a round of an applause as he continued)

I am the king of this land, and it is my sole responsibility to protect this land and all your lives, (he pointed to all of them), I will not take the slightest threats against you easy, I will defend you and your properties……(once again the people shouted and clapped) during this war, some persons condemned my actions and so I have gathered you to ask all of you, should I have waited for the opposition to attack and kill you first before I attacked? And the people chorused, ”nooooooooooo”. The igwe continued,

King AZAZA: Yesterday when our warriors came back from battle, they came back with a little souvenir, a little girl and the only survivor from the land of EKEH, there have been a small controversy over her matter, we do not know if to let her go or to do what is needful. There have been a little disagreement over her issue and so I have sent for the chief priest of the land to come and talk on this matter. Whatever he says that is what we will do. Chief priest please come forward.

(The chief priest came out with his body full of charms and ordered that the princess be brought out. Some of the warriors went behind the palace and brought the little girl out. She was looking worn out and tired from lack of food and water, when Prince Nnamdi saw her, he jumped up in surprise, Nina wanted to run out but Ajuwe held her back, the Prince started crying and Ajuwe took him from Nina and urged him to keep calm, there was mixed taking among the people)

Prince Nnamdi: Father what is the meaning of this? Who is this little child and why is she tied up like an animal? (The king ignored him and urged the priest to go on with what he was doing. The priest moved round the princess three times singing some incantations before he started talking)

Chief priest: igwe, this little girl has a strong heart. She will achieve great things in life, BUT there is one thing I see all over her.

King AZAZA: what do you see ezemmuo?

Chief priest: Revenge! I smell revenge all over her. She has not come to this land to eat and dine with you. She has not come in peace, she has come for REVENGE, and that Revenge she will bring with lots of pains and blood on your land.

King AZAZA: so chief priest what is your advice.

Chief priest: igwe, I have told you what the gods told me, whatever decision you make now is on you and you alone. (He turned and he walked away).

Chief: Igwe, what advice do you seek again, you’ve heard from the mouth piece of the gods. She has to die? We will not wait to see the prophesy come to pass would we?

Prince Nnamdi: (talking to the chief who just spoke) What nonsense are you vomiting from your mouth. Can’t you see she is just a child?

Chief : but my Prince, it is a child that grows to become an adult!

Prince Nnamdi: If she is your child would you speak like this? (The chief kept his head down and Nnamdi spoke to his father)

Father please this time be wise in your decision, this girl is just a child, please spare her and let her live with us, when she grows under our watch she will love us if we teach her right and she will know only right. Please my father.

King Azaza: Nnamdi, you are obviously still a child. (Then he signalled the warrior head to come forward.) People of OKU when there is a problem the wise thing a man should do is solve it. When a problem is quickly solved it prevents future damages. And so with this I have decided that the little girl be taken into the evil forest and beheaded. (The people shouted, Nina and the Prince were wailing, while some were happy that the king is wise, Nnamdi was surprised at his father, but the king ignored him) You must come back after killing her with proof that you have killed her. We will be here waiting

Prince Nnamdi: No father, this is so wrong.

King AZAZA: shut up Nnamdi, this is my decision and I am the king.

Prince Nnamdi: I will not be a party to this. (He stepped out of the palace.

The warrior head ordered Aguyi to carry the girl to the forest and do what the igwe had asked. Aguyi didn't like that he was the one called, but then he couldn’t object, so he carried the girl once more on his shoulder and walked away from the palace. The princess saw NINA and her brother who were crying so much at this point , she smiled at them, and with courage in her voice she shouted. ”EKEH will get her reward. This land will pay” a big slap in her head from behind and she passed out. Some of the villagers were crying and feeling sorry for her. Ajuwe dragged Nina and the boy from the place straight home. It was a horrible day for them all.

Episode 8

Gradually the people began to leave, but some of them waited for the return of Aguyi including Nina and Ajuwe.

After about 25minutes he eventually returned with his sword filled with blood. He also had with him the finger of the princess with which she wore the royal ring given to her by her father. When the people saw this, some of them wept, some of them murmured, while some of them were glad. At that point, Nina carried the prince who was wailing uncontrollably.

King AZAZA: I have defended my land, I have defended my people, let it be known round all of the realms that anyone or village who threatens our land will suffer the same fate that EKEH has suffered. Let it be known that king AZAZA will spare no one. Call me any names you wish, ”king AZAZA the merciless. King AZAZA the evil. King AZAZA the wicked. Whatsoever you wish, I still remain your igwe and my word is still law”

And the crowd chorused ”igweeeeeeeeee”

Prince Nnamdi who was standing far from the scene shook his head in disbelief, this is not the father he used to know. He wondered what had transformed the king into this ruthless and mean person. Nina and the Prince cried even more as the king spoke and NINA was filled with hatred for him and those that cheered for him.

Ajuwe managed to take them home.

Nina : I failed her, I failed my Queen, I failed my princess.

Ajuwe: you are just a child, you did your best my child, its not your fault.

Nina: I made a promise to my queen right before my igwe, I promised to take care of them. And now she is dead, my princess is dead. ( she started crying again. And after a while she called out to the prince.) My Prince, come here, listen I promise you from this day, that I will die first before I let any harm come to you. I promise you. I will return you back to our land and you will avenge all these deaths, I promise you.

Ajuwe interrupted her and stopped her from talking more.

Ajuwe: Firstly Nina my child, we can’t keep calling him Prince, because it will raise suspicions. and so from today you have to rename him.

Nina kept quiet and thought for a while before answering, he turned to the Prince and spoke to him eyeball to eyeball.

Nina: My Prince, listen carefully, there are people out there who are determined to kill us all as long as they know we are from EKEH. So for that reason, I will no longer be calling you my Prince, from this moment, I will call you IKENNA. It doesn’t mean that you are no longer the prince, do you understand?

IKENNA: Yes Nina.

Nina: Also, do not tell anyone that we are from EKEH, you must keep that to yourself. Do you understand me?

IKENNA: But what do I tell them if they ask?

Nina became quiet, but Ajuwe quickly replied the Prince.

Ajuwe: Tell them you are my sisters children, you and Nina, and that you are from AKATOR village. Do you understand?

IKENNA: Yes I do!

Ajuwe: you must not talk about your parents or the princess to anyone, do you understand?

IKENNA: Yes I do.

Nina: EKEH will get her revenge and one day we will return to our land and possess that which is truly ours.

REVENGE!

Episode 9

Days soon turned into weeks and weeks into months and months into years, the killing of the people of EKEH, and the little princess was soon forgotten by the people, Its already been 7years but NINA and IKENNA did not forget.

IKENNA has grown into a fine boy and Nina into a very beautiful maiden, that the young men in the village had begun to seek her hand in marriage from Ajuwe. But Nina turned them all down. She had a mission and every day she never stopped reminding IKENNA of the evil done to them.

One faithful day, Ajuwe was returning from the farm accompanied by IKENNA and NINA, It was almost evening and they chatted and laughed on their way home and suddenly they saw KING AZAZA with his guards taking the evening stroll along the path. They quickly bowed their head as taught them by AJUWE and moved to one side of the road so the igwe and his crew can walk past. Ajuwe greeted the igwe but Ikenna and Nina stood still without bowing or greeting. One of the igwe guard challenged her and the boy asking them if the igwe was too small for them to see and greet. But they remained still saying nothing. The guard wanted to strike her down but King AZAZA urged him to stop.

King AZAZA: young girl do you have a name?

Ajuwe: eee eeeeh eeeh Igwe (she stammered) Her name is Nina, and this is Ikenna. Nina and Ikenna are my sister's children. Please forgive their manners my king, they are not from our land and are still trying to learn how things are done here.

King AZAZA: Not from our land? And yet you say they are your sister's children.

Ajuwe: Yes igwe, my sister was married to Akator and there she lived till she and her husband died some years back, I decided to take in the children as the only family they have left.

King AZAZA: so you mean they’ve been in this village for years now?

Ajuwe knew the king was very wise, and so she tried to be careful with her statements.

Yes igwe, they’ve been with me for about 3years.

King AZAZA: Three years, oh I see! (With his eyes still focused on NINA, who by now was boiling with anger at the king for standing very close to her.

Ajuwe: Yes igwe.

King AZAZA: young girl, go home, rest for a while then come to the palace, I have an assignment for you.

Nina! Me? Why! What kind of assignment?

Warrior : Young lady when the king speaks nobody dare ask questions. Just follow, do you understand?

Nina was quiet but like a snake she knew what she must do.

REVENGE!

Episode 10

Nina: I will not go, who the hell does he think he is

Ajuwe: He is the igwe of this land, and you will go.

Nina: Never, I will not go. What can he do to me? The worse he can do to me is kill me the way he killed my people.

Ajuwe: And is that what you want?

Nina: I am not afraid to die o!

Ajuwe: I know you are not afraid to die, but if you die now would you have fufilled the wishes of your beloved queen and your igwe? (Nina became quiet) listen my child, you will go to the igwe and you will hear what he has to say to you, please my child, you have to be wise please! (Just then the ikenna walked in)

Ikenna: what’s going on here?

Ajuwe: nothing my dear, I was just convincing Nina to go to the igwe palace to see him as he has requested!

Ikenna: yes about that sister, I want to accompany you to the palace.

Nina: ah! No oooo, you won’t go, I will go alone.

IKENNA: no Nina, I will go with you, I want to take a closer look at the man who murdered my family and village.

Ajuwe: Ikenna, I don’t think that is necessary at all. When the right time comes, you will meet with the king.

Ikenna: I know that, but I want to still go there today.

Nina: ike, see you have nothing to worry about, just stay here at home, before you know what’s happening I will already be back.

Ikenna: I don’t understand why you are both trying to convince me not to go. Is there something you are hiding from me? Why are you bent on my not going.

Nina: no dear, we are not hiding anything, I don’t just think that its the right time for you to go and see him.

Ikenna: I am not going there to fight or kill him, I just want to see the place, I won’t even talk there, is that so bad? I want to go there and please don’t tell me not to follow you please!

Ajuwe: Nina let the boy go with you, because its obvious his mind can’t be changed. So let him go with you.

Nina: okay, you will go with me but you won’t do anything stupid do you understand?

Ikenna: I won’t do anything stupid your majesty. (They all burst into laughter at the way and manner Ikenna said the last part, but Nina was worried, she didnt like the idea of Ike going with her, but then she knew that she can’t persuade him not to. She prayed for the spirit of his parents to be with him and protect him

HMMM WHY DO U THINK D IGWE WANTS HER?

Revenge episode 11&12

REVENGE!

Episode 11

As Nina and Ikenna, approached the palace, memories of all that happened to the princess flooded her heart, she suddenly became filled with anger and hatred. She wanted to turn back and leave but Ikenna urged her to go in. They were already here, no turning back.

They stepped into the palace and informed the guards that the king had sent for them, the guard went inside for a minute, when he came back he asked them to follow him inside which they did.

The king was sitted in a beautifully decorated parlour, his facial expression was neither happy nor sad. When he saw Nina, he wanted to wear a smile but then he saw Ikenna follow behind.

King AZAZA: I asked you to come and not him, (he said pointing at Ikenna, who quickly replied)

Ikenna: igwe, if you ask to see my sister, then you ask to see me, she goes nowhere without me.

King AZAZA: so you are what to her, her protector and defender or what?

Ikenna: Igwe, whatever you call it is okay by me, but wherever Nina goes, I go.

King AZAZA: uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Nina stared at him for a while and finally decided to speak up.

Nina: Igwe, you sent for me, here I am. What is it you want me to do for you?

King AZAZA: such boldness, such spirit. That is what attracted you to me in the first place. Anyway, I do not intend to beat around the bush. I invited you here because I wanted to inform you that in two market days I will be taking you as my wife.

The words of the king came like a bomb to the ears of Nina and Ikenna. She was so shocked to understand what the igwe was talking about. She finally regained her tongue.

Nina: wife? What wife? I don’t understand

Ikenna: yeah me too, I don’t understand.

King AZAZA: what is it that the two of you don’t understand, I spoke English not Swahili. I said in two market days, you will be my wife.

Nina: tufiakwa! May the gods forbid it. ( the king was shocked at her reaction) I can never be your wife, may the gods take my life first.

King AZAZA: eeeh! This is an abomination, you dare turn down the king's proposal? Do you know what it takes to be the wife of AZAZA 1?

Nina: I don’t care. I will never marry you;

King Azaza: you will be the Queen of the land, Queen of my heart plus so many advantages.

Nina: Am not interested in whatever you have to offer, I don’t want to be queen of your land and worse of all queen of your heart.

King Azaza: how dare you? ( he stands up) how dare you turn down the proposal of the king? How dare you?

His face was filled with anger. He would have slapped her but he kept calm.

King Azaza: you are lucky that am in a good mood today, you are very lucky.

Ikenna: can we go now?

Nina: Yes igwe, can we go now?

King AZAZA: In all my years as igwe, nobody has dared talked back to me,nobody has dared refused any of my order and nobody has dared disobeyed.

Nina: Igwe I don’t want to marry you, or is it by force to marry?

King Azaza: such rudeness, such boldness, I have only seen in one person. (He turns and looks at Nina straight in the eyes), only one person in the history of my life has dared talked back of me, and that was the princess of EKEH village. And she suffered greatly for that. And now you dare reject my proposal and this little tramp you call a brother dare insult me. (He took a closer look at Nina and then at Ikenna) who are you?/what gave you the boldness to talk at me? Who are you?

Guards……. (he shouted) and the guards came running in, seize them and send someone to go bring in their aunt, I need to speak with her and verify some things. Also send someone to go call the ezemmuo for me now. Go now!

The guards bowed his head before running out of the palace.

Guard: Igwe what do I do with the girl and the boy.

King Azaza: tie them up, tie their hands and feet and eyes until the chief priest comes so I can decide what to do with them. (And the guard took a very strong rope and tied Nina and Ikenna down)

Ajuwe was brought in minutes later, she was scared and terrified, she saw Nina and IKE sitting on the floor, so many thoughts ran through her mind, but she didnt know exactly what has happened.

Ajuwe: Igweeeeeeee…..(she greeted) igwe you sent for me, here I am.

King Azaza: Ajuwe, I’ve known you for a long time now, right before your parents died and your husband was a close friend of mine also before he died. You have been a very good woman, but I have reasons to believe that something is wrong.

Ajuwe: Igwe, I do not understand, you still speak in parables.

King Azaza: you told me this girl and boy are children of your late sister from Akator village. When I thought of it I remembered that your father who was friends with my father had only you as a child, so I begin to wonder what sister gave birth to this two rude children. Which of your sister is that?

Secondly this your so called nephew and niece are so rude and arrogant, so I want to know what punishment do you think is best fitted for them. And Ajuwe don’t you dare play on my intelligence. You know what I can do.

Ajuwe was about to talk when the chief priest walked in, interrupting whatever it was she wanted to say. Ajuwe breath a sigh of relief, glad that the ezemmuo came at the right time, at least she will be able to think of what to reply the king.

Chief Priest: igwe, you sent for me…..

REVENGE!

Episode 12

King Azaza: Ezemmuo, you are welcome, please I need your wise counsel on what to do. I have decided to take a wife and I have chosen a young and beautiful maiden, but she has out-rightly rejected me. She and her brother spoke rudely to me, and most of all they are not from our land. Something tells me they are from EKEH village. The village we destroyed almost six years ago. Eye of the gods please confirm for me if this is true!

The chief priest began some incantations, throwing cowries and dancing around the palace like a possessed stray dog. After a while he stopped and pointed to Ajuwe.

Chief Priest: Your kind heart will bring you blessings, as you have opened your door to help the ones in need, the gods have opened their hearts to smile at you.

The igwe looked at ezemmuo and then to Ajuwe, but he remained calm.

The chief priest ordered that Nina and Ikenna be brought out to the middle of the palace. The guards brought them out and made them kneel before king Azaza.

The chief priest looked from the girl to the boy and then prostrated before the boy.

Chief priest: Igweeeeeeeeee!

King Azaza was confused, he could not tell if the ezemmuo was prostrating for him or the little boy.

King Azaza: Ezemmuo are you greeting me or the little boy, because I don’t understand.

Chief Priest: I greet the king I see!

Then king AZAZA relaxed on his chair for as long as he is concerned he was the only king that was there.

Chief priest: (talking to Nina) I see Royalty all around you, you are destined for great things, you are destined to be a queen. Do not refuse the king's proposal, for it is your destiny…..(to Ikenna he turned and spoke) You have a destiny to fulfill, do not be distracted. Things will unfold at the right time. So do not try to rush up anything. The gods are with you, but you must learn to be patient. ( then he packed his bags and was about to leave )

Nina: I will never marry this man, I don’t want to be Queen.

Ikenna: she can’t be Queen, she can’t marry him, how can she marry a man she is not in love with?

Chief priest: you can’t run away from it young Lady, it is your destiny. You will be queen, you must be Queen. That is the will of the gods. ( he turned and walked away, the king let out a wicked laugh)

King AZAZA: I knew you would be my wife. Guards take her to my chambers and have the maids dress her up. Ajuwe take this rude boy and leave my presence. My Queen stays with me.

Nina: nooo noooo nooo ( she screamed and cried) Ike, Ike don’t leave me here, Ikenna, I don’t want to be Queen, I don’t want to stay here. Ajuwe please don’t leave me here, (she kept on crying as they kept pulling her away)

Ikenna: (shouting and crying at same time) no, please let her go, let her go, you’ve taken everyone I love from me, please don’t take her away too, please let her go please.

Ajuwe just held him by his hand as the guards dragged them out of the palace.

Nina was taken into one room and locked there. She kept on crying, hitting the door and shouting for help. Some maids came in and tried to change her clothes but she chased them all away. The king had ordered that until she becomes quiet and calm nobody should open the door or give her any food or water.

Nina remained in that room for three days without food or water. With each passing day she grew weaker and weaker, and she was gradually losing the strength to shout or hit the door. She prayed for a miracle, but non came, then she began to pray for death to come. She rather be dead than marry the wicked king. Everyday a guard will speak to her through a tiny pipe that was connected to the room, asking her if she was ready to submit to the king and also as a means to check if she was still alive.

Nina: I rather die! ( she answers weakly)

This answer always gets king AZAZA furious, and he made a decree that nobody should check on her for another seven days. And so Nina remained in that room for days without food or water. Yet death refused to come. She didn't know how many days were gone, she didn't know if it was day or night she was just there. And then suddenly she saw her, dressed in white looking very beautiful.

Nina: My Queen, oh my beloved queen. I knew you would come for me.

Queen: Nina my beloved, see how you’ve grown, I am so proud of you, you’ve taken good care of my boy and he has grown to become a brave man. Thank you so much my child.

Nina: My Queen, am so tired, I want to go home with you, I don’t want to stay here anymore

Queen: no my child, you have a destiny to fulfill. Your time is not come yet.

Nina: but I cannot marry the king, he wiped out our entire land, he killed you and the king, I cannot marry him, I don’t want to be queen, I rather die. Please take me with you.

Queen: NINA Darling, its your destiny to be queen, the gods made those choices for us and we cannot change it.

Nina: But how can I be queen to someone I don’t love. Let me just die please.

Queen: You have to be strong, there is a great task ahead of you. You have to be strong to fulfill it. Do not worry my dear, you will love the king! (then she turned to leave)

Nina: Wait , please wait, I still have questions, (but then the queen was gone. She opened her eyes and realized it was all a dream and she was still locked up in the room, she tried to stand up but discovered she was very weak from lack of food and water. She fell down hitting her head in a bench that was in the room. Then she passed out).

Revenge episode 13&14

REVENGE!

Episode 13.

For days Ikenna became busy, cutting sticks and sharpening them to form arrows. He has made a very big and thick bow for himself. He was full of anger and rage. He couldn’t wait anymore, it was time to put king AZAZA where he belonged.

Ajuwe had searched for him for the past three days but could not find him, she had become so worried about his whereabouts. She tried to talk to Nina if she had any idea where Ikenna would go to, but king AZAZA had locked Nina up and commanded that nobody should go and see her or open the door for her. Ajuwe had also asked around neighbours and friends of Ikenna but non was able to tell her where he had gone.

She decided to increase her search by going far deeper into the forest that leads away from the village. She had walked for days alone, tired and hungry. She was about giving up on her search when she heard the sound of the cutting and falling of a tree. She quickly followed the direction where the sound came from, hiding carefully behind leaves. She didnt want to fall into the hands of wrong persons. And finally she saw him. It was Ikenna.

Ajuwe: thank the gods

Ikenna was surprised to see Ajuwe, she looked at her again to be sure she was real and not a ghost.

Ikenna: Mother, what are you doing in this part of the forest alone.

Ajuwe: Ike my child, I’ve been looking for you for days.

Ikenna: But why mama, I haven’t gone missing na

Ajuwe: you left the house, days back without telling anyone where you are going to and you expect me not to worry? Why did you do that?

Ikenna: Am sorry ma, I didnt want you to stop me from what I wanted to do, besides I needed a quiet time to be able to think and focus on my mission.

Ajuwe: Why? What is your mission, what do you plan to do? (Then she turned and saw the carved arrows and the bow) what do you plan to do with these?

Ikenna: Mama, it is time for the King to pay for his sins.

Ajuwe: (picking up one of the arrows? with these? You plan on dealing with Azaza with these tiny arrows of yours?

Ikenna: Mother, these are not tiny arrows. I will bring the wickedness of the king to an end with this.

Ajuwe: Ikenna my son, you have to cool down on your rage. You alone cannot take down the king. You have to take your time, think and strategize.

Ikenna: Did you say take time? Mama time is what I don’t have. The king is about to force my sister to become his wife, against her will. I cannot sit back and let that happen. And let him rope her into his wickedness. I have to do something.

Ajuwe: But what would you do?

Ikenna: Mama, go home, do not worry about me or what I will do. I will finish what I came here to do and I will return to the village, and the wickedness of king AZAZA will come to an end.

Ajuwe: Ikenna, but how do you plan on doing that? Have you forgotten that the king has warriors? Trained warriors and guards, same ones who were able to bring down EKEH, you are just a boy, you are not as skilled as they are, how do you think you can get through all of them to the king.

Ikenna: Mama, they may be skilled, they may be talented, they may have Years of experience, but I am graced, I am blessed by my parents, I carry the spirit of my father the king of EKEH, my mother the queen of EKEH, my sister the princess of EKEH, and the spirit of all the men, women, boys, girls and children of EKEH. I am a small boy with many spirits, they have to get through all these spirits to reach my spirit, and before they will be able to do that the wicked king AZAZA will be dead. Go home mama, its time for the king to pay.

Ajuwe: so I cannot convince and change your decision.

Ikenna: Mama, my mind is made up, and nothing you say or do can change my plans.

Ajuwe: From beginning when I accepted you and Nina unto my home, I became committed to your course, so if this is what you have decided to do, then I will stay and plan with you. We are a team, we work together, live together, fight together and die together.

Ikenna looked at Ajuwe as she picked up a stick from the ground, picked up a small knife by the side of the woods and began to sharpen the stick. Ikenna also knew that as he was stubborn so was Ajuwe and there was no convincing her to return to the village. So in silence they sat and carved arrows ready for battle.

Revenge!

Episode 14

For days now, nobody heard a sound from Nina’s room. The guards and maids of the palace have noticed this and they have brought it to the notice of the King. But he shouted at them and told them that his decree was that none should open that door until after seven days and that as he has spoken so it will be. The maids returned back to their rooms. They were already beginning to worry for the young lady but they didn't have the power to do anything. Some of the maids would go to the door of the room and try to peep through if they would see her, others would talk to her through the talking pipe connected to her room, but they would get no response from her. It's the sixth day already and they prayed, fast for the seventh day to come. While some prayed, others gossiped.

Maid one: I feel so pity for the young girl. I just hope she is not dead in the room already.

Maid two: what I don’t understand is why she would refuse to marry the king. A whole king. Many girls would die to be in her place, and here she is given a life time opportunity and she is throwing it away.

Maid one: what are you talking about?/is it by force to marry the king. Why won’t the king just let her be. So a woman can’t decide to marry who she loves again. This village had turned into something else o.

Maid two: How I wish I was the one chosen by the king, I will grab the opportunity with both hands. Imagine me the Queen and all of you my subjects, would that not be great?

Maid one: I am surprised at you o, so if it were you, chosen by the king you would have married him?

Maid two: Before nkor, who nor like better thing?/I will marry him sharp sharp without thinking twice. Na wa for you o, that na question you day ask so?

Maid one: well not everyone is as greedy as you, some people are still full of integrity and stand by what they believe and want.

Maid two: And where has that belief taken her to. See where her integrity had landed her into

Maid one: I really wish Prince Nnamdi knew what was happening and that a young girl is dying in there simply because she refused his father’s marriage proposal.

Maid two: Prince Nnamdi? And who will tell him? You? That one has given up on his father, he has chosen a part different from his father's and so he does not concern with whatever his father does, or whatever happens around the village.

Maid one: The Prince is a good man. If he is here, that innocent girl will not be locked up in that room to suffer……(unknown to them, the Prince had been standing around and he just heard all they said)

Prince Nnamdi: what girl? Locked up where?

The maids were startled.

Maid one: my prince sir, no one sir and no where sir.

Prince Nnamdi: don’t you lie to me, I have been here for some time now and I heard everything you said so don’t lie to me. So speak up if not I will have you driven from this palace.

Maids: eerrm, uuhmm, my Prince,

Prince Nnamdi: speak up

Maid one: my Prince, the igwe your father will punish us if we tell you anything, please my prince, forgive us please.

Prince Nnamdi: listen just tell me everything and I promise you my father will not know about you, I promise you, I give you my word.

(Then the maid took her time and explained everything that happened the past few days to the Prince. Nnamdi was surprised, he demanded that the room be shown to him and they showed him the room. Then he marched angrily to the guards, demanding the key to the room. The guards saw the rage on his eyes and they gave him the keys. He went into the room and saw Nina on the floor unconscious. Prince Nnamdi ordered the guards to carry her to one of the rooms and the maids to clean her up)

All efforts to wake Nina up proved abortive, the village healer was called by Nnamdi and after checking Nina up, he told them that she must have hit her head on a hard object and that the injury on the head was already infected. He gave some medications but Nina showed no sign of waking up. Angrily, Prince marched into his father's room where he was about to sleep.

King AZAZA: Nnamdi have you gone mad. How dare you march into my room like that.

Prince Nnamdi: Father how could you? When did you become so cold hearted and heartless?

King AZAZA: mind your words young man. I am not just your father but your king.

Prince Nnamdi: D--n that father, how could you lock up a young girl simply because she refused to marry you. You locked her up without food and water for days. How can you be so cruel?

King AZAZA: what king AZAZA wants, king Azaza gets. Nobody refuses king Azaza, whoever does that must suffer.

Prince Nnamdi: hear you father, just hear you. A young girl old enough to be your daughter. How old is that girl? That girl is not up to 30, how old am I? You want to take a very small girl as your wife and because she refused, you want to kill her.

King AZAZA: What king Azaza wants, king Azaza gets.

Prince Nnamdi: I hear you father, pray she lives so you can get her, she is in there struggling for her life, everything has been done and she is not responding. Pray she lives because if she dies, your kingdom will hear of your cruelty.

Revenge!

Episode 15.

The warrior head was sitted outside his hut smoking his pipe, Aguyi sat beside him with pleading eyes. Warrior head seemed not to care or interested in whatever Aguyi was saying.

Aguyi: You don’t seem to care what I am saying, you are not even listening to me.

Warrior Head: Aguyi. I am listening, but like you already observed, I don’t care.

Aguyi: But how can you not care? I just told you that I needed my reward from serving this land. Before we became warriors we were promised a handsome reward upon death or retirement, but all these years no one has bothered to ask ask how I take care of myself and my family, no one is even speaking of the reward. Please I really need this money and reward. My family needs it.

Warrior Head: But I just told you I don’t care.

Aguyi: and I ask how can you not care? This is my right, my entitlement, I am not begging for assistance, I am only asking for what is rightfully mine, how can you not care.

Warrior Head: (standing up) Aguyi, I am a very busy man, I have somewhere I want to go to so please leave.

Aguyi: I don’t understand you at all. Are you seizing my money and my reward? Because I honestly don’t get you.

Warrior Head: How can I seize your reward? Am I the igwe that gives reward? Don’t you know his palace? Why are you bothering me?

Aguyi: But Okinji’s wife got paid barely two months after his death, Agaba got paid last week after his retirement two months ago, how come no one is talking about me, you that retired last week the igwe has paid you, for me its been 9years already, 9years, how come no one remembers Aguyi, or talks about his own money? What is going on?

Warrior Head: Aguyi I am not the igwe, take your questions to the igwe, don’t come and bother me here. Am I the one owing you? What kind of problem is this?

Aguyi: You and I know I have no business with the igwe, however I will go to him as you have asked. (He turns to leave)

Warrior head: Bia, wait for me, let’s go together, I have business with the igwe too.

(Aguyi waited for a while for him to lock his door and together they went to the igwe’s palace, when they got there, the entire palace was in disarray, Igwe was sited with one hand on his jaw thinking)

Warrior Head: igweeeeeeee (they both bowed in salutation) igwe I hope all is well. This one you sat like this!

Aguyi: Yes igwe, I hope all is well.

King AZAZA: All is well my warriors, its just this stupid girl I brought to my palace. I wanted to take her as a wife and she refused, and just a little discipline I gave to her, she is already dying.

Aguyi: How do you mean she is already dying igwe?

King AZAZA: they said she fell and hit her head and the head got infected. We have carried our finest healer and yet she hasn’t improved.

Warrior head: And you are worried?

King AZAZA: Not really, am not really worried, its just something Nnamdi said, that if she dies, the kingdom will rise up against me.

Warrior head: hahahahaha, who dares rise up against the great AZAZA, nobody can do that.

Aguyi: Igwe, nobody can rise up against you but the people will not be happy with you and some of them might begin to plan evil against you.

King AZAZA: That does not bother me at all, but I wish she wouldn’t die because I do not want to have any feud with my son.

Aguyi: igwe, my youngest daughter is a healer, I have seen her cure so many strange illness, I believe if she attends to this girl, she might just get well.

King AZAZA: really, send for her immediately!

Aguyi: I will do that sir. Meanwhile, the reason I came to see you is because of my reward and benefit from serving as a warrior in this land.

The king looked at Aguyi for a while before finally speaking.

King AZAZA: Aguyi, I thought the warrior head had already explained to you everything. But since he didn't, let me be the one to tell you. You were given an assignment years ago to kill the princess of EKEH, you performed your duty and then by yourself you resigned from being a warrior, I don’t know if its because of guilt or anything but you resigned. And by that you lost all right to your reward. So you won’t be getting anything at all.

Aguyi: Igwe, I have served this land for a long time, I have fought battles for the land, I resigned because the thought of killing that innocent child hunted me. If for that I will not be given the reward I duly deserve, then I leave you for the gods.

King AZAZA got angry and stood up.

King AZAZA: are you causing me?

Aguyi: Igwe, I have not caused you, I won’t dare.

King AZAZA: in that case mind your words. Now get out of my palace. Get out.

Aguyi smiled, took a bow and walked out of the palace.

Episode 16.

Unknown to Aguyi, King Azaza had ordered the guards to follow him and bring his daughter by force to the palace to heal Nina. Aguyi walked home silently with anger in his heart. He got home and met his two daughters with his wife in the kitchen. He narrated all that had happened to them and his wife consoled him, but just then the guards stepped in.

Aguyi: (standing up) And what are you doing in my house guards of the king.

Guard: The king had ordered that your daughter the healer come with us.

Chimamanda: Come with you for what?

Aguyi: Amy my child, I might have mentioned to the igwe that you are a healer and can heal his sick bride to be

Chimamanda: I don’t care father, his wife to be can go and die, I don’t care.

Aguyi: No my child, don’t talk like that, its not her fault, she is just a victim like the rest of us and this gift of yours was given to save lives so please don’t say words like that anymore.

Chimamanda: Father, that king is evil, he is a wicked man, anything that concerns him is evil and I will not have anything to do with him.

Guards: you don’t even have an option. Weather you like it or not, you are coming with us. (He went forward in attempt to carry her, then Aguyi drew his sword)

Aguyi: one touch on my daughter and heads will roll here.

Guard: Aguyi. We don’t want to fight, we just want to carry out the igwe’s order.

Aguyi: Don’t touch my child. We will go with you, but don’t you dare touch her.

Chimamanda: But father, I will not help the igwe

Aguyi: Let’s get there first, others have tried and failed, it is not also a crime for you to try and fail. Let’s go.

And together, Aguyi and chimamanda followed the guards and went to the palace. When they got there, the igwe let out a loud laugh. He looked at father and daughter and then spoke out.

King AZAZA: I had thought you would offer resistance to my guards, am glad you came without any struggle.

Aguyi: Igwe you didn't have to ask your guards to use force on my daughter. Ain’t I the one who told you about her?

King AZAZA: I know you did, but based on our last discussion and how we parted, I believed you will not allow her come.

Chimamanda: Listen igwe, you can force a horse to the river, but you cannot force it to drink water.

King AZAZA: what do you mean by that?

Chimamanda: I mean that you can force me here, you can even imprison me, but you can’t force me to help your so called wife to be.

King AZAZA: (angry) listen young woman, you will help that Nina of a girl, you will save her life, and if you don’t, if she dies, be rest assured that you will die with her.

Aguyi: But Igwe I never told you that she is god, I only said she might be able to help, it is not a guarantee that the person must be cured.

King AZAZA: yes Aguyi, she must be cured or else your daughter dies, so whatever magic she wants to use, let her use it and save that girl. Guards, tell NNAMDI, to bring in the girl.

Chimamanda: Never, I will never save your bride. Kill me if you must but I will never touch her.

Nnamdi came in with the guards who were carrying Nina and dropped her before the king. He heard the young healer talking and turned face her.

Prince NNAMDI: please ma, whoever you are, please save this woman. Please, do not do it for my father, but please do it for me. I beg you. Please ma.

Chimamanda: So the igwe is your father. He has said he will kill me if I don’t touch her. Let him kill me because I have nothing to do here

Prince Nnamdi: I swear with my life, nobody will touch you, please ma if there is anything you can do please save this young woman and do it. Just take a look at her, just one look please and if you still insist on not touching her, then let her die please. Just one look.

Chimamanda looked at the Prince and then at Nina who was lying motionless on the ground. When chimamanda saw Nina her heart skipped, tears fell from her eyes and without saying any more word, she dropped her bag and brought out some herbs and started mixing them. Nnamdi was surprised, even Aguyi and the igwe were surprised at why she suddenly changed her mind.

Episode 17

Chimamanda spent some time attending to Nina, before she finally picked her bag to leave, promising to return the next day.

Prince Nnamdi: I do not know why you changed your mind, but thank you! I look forward to your coming tomorrow. I pray the gods show her mercy and heal her.

Chimamanda: Amin

King AZAZA: Make sure you come on time tomorrow. Do not keep my bride waiting.

Chimamanda took another wicked look at him before going out. On their way out, Aguyi held her hand and asked.

Aguyi: my child, one minute you are standing your ground never to help the queen to be, the next minute you are down helping her with so much passion. Why? What did you see.

Chimamanda: Father there is nothing to ask or think about. I just did what my spirit asked me to do.

Aguyi: may the gods bless you my child for not allowing a fellow human die.

*****************************************

Ikenna and Ajuwe had prepared lots of arrows and they have decided to return back to the village.

Ajuwe: Ike what’s the next plan now?

Ikenna: Firstly I will go and see how my sister is faring. When I return I will know what next to do.

Ajuwe: Then I will go with you.

Ikenna and Ajuwe arrived the palace and met Prince Nnamdi outside. Ikenna introduced himself as the brother to the young maiden that the igwe had captured and arrested. Prince Nnamdi could perceive hatred for the king from Ikenna. He took them in and showed them NINA.

IKENNA: what happened to her, who did this to her?(he stood up boiling in anger)

Prince Nnamdi: calm down, she had a slight accident. She fell down and hit her head on a chair.

Ajuwe: (holding her by her hand) my poor NINA , I am so sorry I wasn’t here to help you, don’t worry ike and I are here now and we will never leave you alone again.

Ikenna: this was no accident. I am sure the king has a hand in this, this was no accident.

Prince Nnamdi: we’ve called a healer, she was here yesterday and she will be here any moment from now.

Ikenna: if anything happens to my sister, if anything happens to her. Let me not say anything yet. (He turned and walked out of the room angry, in his way out he stepped on Chimamanda who was walking in, but he was too angry to even say sorry, he just stormed out)

Chimamanda: Ouch, who is this one na, see the way he stepped on me and felt so big to say sorry. Stupid!

(She walked into the room, she greeted Ajuwe and prince Nnamdi, and commenced treatment immediately. She brought out a leaf, squeezed it and put it into her nostril. After a while, Nina sneezed and opened her eyes.) She was so weak…..

Nina: Water, I need water

Prince Nnamdi quickly got up and ran to the kitchen past the maids and brought the water to Nina. She drank the water and felt a bit strong. She turned and looked at the faces around, she didnt recognise anyone except Ajuwe whom she hugged so tight before asking.

Nina: where am I please?

Ajuwe: oh my child, bless the gods you are alive, I was so worried.

Nina: where am I ma,

Ajuwe: you are at the palace, my dear, do you remember anything?

Nina: I think I do, I remember the king locking me up because I refused his proposal for marriage. (She turned and looked from the prince to Chima) ma, who are these people? Where is Ikenna?

Prince Nnamdi: welcome back dear, my name is NNAMDI.

AJUWE: Nina honey, This is Prince Nnamdi, son of King AZAZA, he has been the one taking good care of you.

Prince Nnamdi: And this is chimamanda, she is the healer who took care of you and brought you back to life, after many other healers have failed.

Nina turned to Chimamanda and thanked her so much for all she’s done for her.

Chimamanda: there’s no need to thank me, I just did what my spirit asked me to do.

Nina: where is Ikenna?

Ajuwe: He just stepped out few minutes ago.he will be back.

Nina: I really want to see him. (She turned to Nnamdi) Thank you so much for taking care of me, please tell your father that I am ready to marry him.

Prince Nnamdi: what did you say?

Nina: I said tell the king that I am now ready to be his Queen.

Nnamdi’s eyes widened, his mouth opened as he stared at Nina like a ghost.

Episode 18

Chief Odogwu had just arrived from the US with his family and the igwe had given him a warm reception. They have just finished a good meal at the dining table and the chief and the king left the rest of the family at the dining to go discuss important issues downstairs. There was plenty of laughing in the palace as they went downstairs. They took their seats and discussion started.

Chief Odogwu: Its so good to be home, after all this years.

King AZAZA: yes o, we are always grateful to you and so EKEH is your home anytime, any day.

Chief Odogwu: Thank you so much igwe.

King AZAZA: so now that you are back, what is your plan.

Chief Odogwu: (sitting up) yes igwe, I was coming to that. I was meaning to ask for your favour.

King AZAZA: what is it my friend? You know you can always ask anything of me. OKU is indebted to you. ( they both burst out laughing)

Chief Odogwu: Thank you igwe. Igwe what I want to ask for is the four plots of lands by the village hall. That place is a very good and open place, it will be good to build a school and a fuel station, you know it is high time development comes into this village. And I want to help bring that development. I want to build a big school and a fuel station in OKU!

King AZAZA: you mean, you want to build for us?

Chief Odogwu: yes igwe. As a sign of appreciation for what you did for me and my family years ago.

King AZAZA: ah that Is good news. You see, not everyone knows how to appreciate. That is a very good habit my friend.

Chief Odogwu: Igwe, that is not all. You know my family and I don’t really have a house here in OKU. There is another plot of land two poles after the four plots, I will love to build a house there for my family and I.

King AZAZA: uhmmmm, well, those lands actually belong to some elders of this land, but I will talk to them, I will let them know that this is for the development of this land. They don’t have any choice than to comply.

Chief Odogwu: Thank you my king, I know I can always count on you.

King AZAZA: You have nothing to worry about, the land is yours already.

Chief Odogwu: Thank you so much my king.

King AZAZA: meanwhile, there is someone I want you to meet.

Chief Odogwu: And who might that be.

King AZAZA: my wife to be, an epitome of beauty. (He turns, face a guard) tell the future queen there is someone she has to meet. (The guard runs off)

Nina has been transformed into a beauty queen. The attire she wore changed her completely and she looked absolutely beautiful. The guard had informed her that the king wanted to see her. His presence irritated her and she hated him with passion. She has been informed that being a queen was her destiny and she had accepted to marry the King so as to be the worm that eats him from within. She will make his life miserable and make him pay for all he did to her and the people of EKEH. She smiled as the thought of revenge felt sweet in her heart.

She stepped out in style walking down the stairs to see who this visitor was. And then she saw him. Immediately she saw him she recognized him. It was Odogwu, the late king OBAMA step brother and personal advisor, she remembered he had left EKEH with his family few days before the attack. She remembered Ajuwe’s story of how their own king man had sold them out. It was Odogwu, everyone knew that Odogwu was jealous of his brother Obama. He had always wanted the throne for himself, and so he used king Azaza to destroy EKEH simply because he couldn’t be the king.

Nina remembered everything and understood it all. She recognized him well and she knows that Odogwu will also recognize her. And if king AZAZA should find out that she is from EKEH her life will not only be in danger but Ajuwe and Ikenna. She was confused because the king was waiting for her to step down. Just then the king saw her at the stairs.

King AZAZA: There she is (he points at her) come down my queen, come and say hello to my blossom friend………

Episode 19

Nina was confused, she didnt know if to run or go to the king, she had to do something very fast. She heard a door open and then she saw Prince Nnamdi step outside, she quickly pretended to collapse and she fell right into his hands.

King AZAZA: what is happening? Please take her upstairs. Nnamdi I thought she was well already!

Prince Nnamdi: Father I do not know what is wrong.

King AZAZA: take her upstairs please.

Chief Odogwu: What is going on? What is wrong with her?

King AZAZA: She is not feeling too well, I guess you won’t be seeing her now.

Chief Odogwu: No problems I can always see her at any time.

The Prince took Nina inside with the maids and laid her on the bed. Then he sent a maid to go look for Chimamanda and bring her fast. When the maids left, he held Nina by the hand and prayed slowly for her not to die. Nina observed him gently and wondered why he was so different from his father.

Chimamanda stepped in with her bag of herbs and went straight to Nina. After observing her for a while she asked the Prince and everyone to go out of the room. She knew that Nina was pretending and didnt want to ask her before the Prince and maids. When they’ve all gone out she asked.

Chimamanda: now sit up and tell me why the pretence?

Nina: (she opens her eyes and sat up) I am so sorry Chi, please don’t let anyone know about this.

Chimamanda: I won’t but you have to tell me why you were pretending to be sick when you are not.

Nina: There is someone the igwe wanted me to see that I didnt want to see.

Chimamanda: And who is that? Why didnt you want to see him.

Nina: nothing, its nothing!

Chimamanda: Listen Nina, you can trust me and tell me, I promise not to tell anyone.

Nina: And I said its nothing. Why are you so inquisitive. Please leave me alone and let me be.

Chimamanda: I am not inquisitive, I just want to understand why you are pretending to be sick before the king your husband to be.

Nina: please leave me alone. I owe you no explanation. Just leave me alone, I want to rest now, you can leave my room. (She stood up and opened the door for chimamanda to go out, but Amanda walked up to the door and closed it)

Chimamanda: You may be older than me, but I am still your princess and this is not how to talk to your princess.

Nina stood rooted to the ground and stared at chimamanda, she started to see the resemblance. And then chimamanda removed the hand glove she was wearing, revealing her finger that was cut off by Aguyi as a baby, tears flowed from Nina’s eyes as she held her in a warm embrace.

Nina: oh! Oh! My princess its you, I thought you were dead. When that warrior came back with your finger wrapped in a cloth with your Royal ring, I thought you were dead. May the gods be praised that you are alive. This is a miracle.

Chimamanda: Bring down your voice. So no one can hear you.

Nina: what happened? How come you are alive?

Chimamanda: The warrior Aguyi, could not do it, he was crying as I was begging him not to do it, and so he cut off my finger, after begging me to forgive him. He said he needed to prove to the king that I was dead, if not he would be killed. So he cut off my finger, and then he took me home to his wife and daughter and they took care of me and loved me like their own. He resigned from being a warrior so that he could take care of me. He gave me the name, chimamanda and told people I was his daughter so as to cover my identity, then he made me wear these gloves to avoid been noticed by people.

Nina: How did you learn to heal?

Chimamanda : its just a gift. The gods blessed me with the gift of healing.

Nina: The gods be praised, I bless them for making me see this day.

Chimamanda: But how come you are marrying the wicked king. Have you forgotten the mission?

Nina: my princess no, I can never forget, my Queen your mother appeared to me and told me its my destiny to be Queen. I guess its part of the mission. Maybe i am destined to be the worm that will eat the king from the inside.

Chimamanda: what about my brother the Prince.

Nina: Ikenna, that’s what we call him now. Like you, we had to keep his identity hidden. He is fine and safe. The gods used a good woman AJUWE to help us. You must find her and reveal yourself to her. When you find her you will find the prince.

Chimamanda: But how do I find her?

Nina: The prince, find Prince Nnamdi, demand to speak and talk to my mom. You will find Ajuwe.

They both looked at each other again and hugged again.

Chimamanda: The time of revenge has come. Remain focused. We will achieve victory, EKEH will rise again.

Nina: yes my princess, EKEH will rise again…..

Episode 20

Sitted in the King’s palace were chief, members of the cabinets, warriors, chief Odogwu and others. The palace was a little rowdy because of the decision that the king has just taken concerning the lands.

Obi: igwe this is so unfair, that piece of land belongs to my father's father, and my father gave me that land, I intend to pass it on to my son. It is the only property I have. Please let Chief Odogwu find somewhere else to build his house. Please igwe.!

Ajani: yes igwe. I cannot release my land. Of all the lands why would chief Odogwu chose mine. If he wants to build a school, why not buy a plot of land that is for sale. Must he take ours?

There was a slight argument in the palace until the igwe shouted on top of his voice.

King AZAZA: silence everyone. I will not have you turn my palace into a market place.

Ajani: we are sorry igwe.

Chief Ibe: igwe, we are sorry about the noise. But what we are saying is that those lands have purposes. Odogwu cannot just come and say he wants to take our land, just because he wants to build on it.

Chief Odogwu: let me ask you something Ibe. will you build a school for this village? Do you even know what a school is? I am only trying to bring development to this village but if you all don't want it. Its still okay by me oo

Chief Ibe: Odogwu. I know your type. And whatever is your plan will fail. It will not work. Develop indeed, the same way you developed EKEH right?

Chief Odogwu: what do you mean by that?

Chief Ibe: I mean whatever I mean. But just know that whatever your plans will not work.

King AZAZA: Enough of all this rantings. I am the igwe and I am law. Now listen all of you. A school is a good thing. And a fuel station is also a good thing. Chief Odogwu here has decided to build the two for us free, and all we need is provide him a land. And you all are here talking rubbish. I ask you Ibe, if odogwu refuses to build the school will you build it? Answer me will you? Anyways this is my judgement.

I dont want to know who inherited or who bought those lands for whoever. My judgement is those lands now belong to the igwe who in turn is handing it over to chief Odogwu for building of a school and a fuels station and his personal house. A labourer is worthy of its wages. And so odogwu deserves this. Any other person that steps on those lands to claim possession of the lands should be imprisoned and severely dealt with. I am the igwe and I have spoken.

Obi: But Igwe that land is the only property I have.

King AZAZA: I said I have spoken.

Odogwu got up and shook hands with the igwe beaming with smiles. The elders began to leave the palace except Obi, who suddenly began pulling his clothes. And in few seconds he was completely naked before the igwe.

King AZAZA: Obi what is the meaning of this? Have u suddenly gone mad?

Obi: igwe, today I lay a curse on that land. Any man that shall step his foot on that land with an intention to take it away from me and my family, may the gods show them the way that leads to death.

King AZAZA: shut up Obi, guards, guards , take him away (he ordered, the guards came surrounded Obi, carried him and threw him out of the palace.)

Chief Odogwu: empty threats, the gods who don't even have ear’s is what he is calling on.

King AZAZA: don't mind him my friend, tomorrow I will take you to the land myself, let me see his crazy gods.

They both burst out laughing……

Episode 21

Obi and Ibe stormed out of the palace reigning insults on Odogwu, causing and swearing for him as they left. Chimamanda who was leaving the palace saw them and shook her head. She knew the King’s enemies was increasing by the day. She listened to them as they were talking.

Ibe: who the hell does he think he is, just because he travelled from the country and back he thinks he can begin to claim people's land anyhow.

Obi: is he the one you blame? If our king has not given him that leg, he won’t be able to do the rubbish he is about doing.

Ibe: He has grown wings in this village.

Obi: am not even sure he wants to build any school. I believe he just wants to claim our land and so he is lying to the igwe and using him to achieve his aims.

Ibe: is the igwe a fool, is he so daft not to see that this man is evil and out to destroy our land?

Obi: The igwe is not a fool, he is just wicked. He knows what he is doing. Odogwu cannot go back in his words if he does that the igwe will have his head. Igwe wants him to build that school and then claim it from him. He knows what he is doing.

Ibe: why is there so much wickedness in AZAZA. He was not like this before o. How did he suddenly become this cold hearted.

Obi: there is a saying that evil communication corrupts good manners, the moment he identified with that traitor Odogwu I knew our land was finished.

Ibe: whatever Odogwu and the king is planning it will definitely not work.

Obi: do you know it was this same Odogwu that came to tell the igwe of the plots to attack our land by EKEH, he was the one who sold out their land and then ran abroad by the help of our own igwe. He sacrificed his entire village for his greed.

It was the first time the princess was hearing about this, she became anxious to see this traitor.

Obi: am beginning to have doubts if EKEH was really planning an attack on us. Am beginning to feel that ODOGWU told lies against their king and village so as to achieve his selfish desires.

Ibe: I believe you too. This Odogwu can do and undo.

Obi: and our king has made himself a tool in his hands. He used our king to destroy hundreds of lives. The gods will definitely punish them. I will not sit and watch them take away my only inheritance and what I plan to leave for my children.

Ibe: But what can we do? The king has spoken.

Obi: I will not sit o, if he likes he speaks or sings, this is oppression and the gods of our land is against oppression. I will not sit and leave them to oppress me. I will go to Ezemmuo, the gods will fight for me.

Ibe: oooh, how I wish the wicked reign of Azaza will come to an end while his kind hearted son prince Nnamdi takes over the throne.

Obi: the Prince is so nice. How I wish he is the king and not the wicked AZAZA.

Ibe: I heard he is about to force a young girl to be his wife.

Obi: another life to be ruined, the gods will visit him soon. Come let’s go to Ezemmuo.

(As they left, chimamanda took another look at them. She had a plan but first she must find her brother the Prince of EKEH, she went back into the palace to look for Prince Nnamdi, she met him in the garden staring into the skies. He was startled when he saw her).

Chimamanda: Am sorry I frightened you.

Prince Nnamdi: No, I was not frightened, was just surprised to see you, I wasn’t expecting anyone, I usually don't have visitors.

Chimamanda: and why is that?

Prince Nnamdi: My dad has always been very strict, and so he scared all my friends away. And now I am just alone here…

Chimamanda: sorry about that

Prince Nnamdi: enough of me, why are you here? Is Nina sick again?

Chimamanda: (smiles), no she’s not

Prince Nnamdi: Then what is it? Did my father harass you?

Chimamanda: No ooo, relax. You are so forward, you won’t let me talk.

Prince Nnamdi: And you are so real. You are very very young yet so bold and courageous. You are not even afraid to talk to me the Prince.

Chimamanda: And why should I be afraid. Are you a monster? ( the prince started laughing), besides am not so young like you think.

Prince Nnamdi: How old are you?

Chimamanda: How old are you Prince?

Prince Nnamdi: ( he starts laughing again) well since you asked, I am 33years old

Chimamanda: yet you talk as if you are one very old man. I am 19.

Prince Nnamdi: 19? You are a baby naaaa

Chimamanda: Na you sabi. Please the reason I came is because Nina sent me.(when the Prince heard Nina, his face lit up)

Prince Nnamdi: Nina, Nina sent you? Is she okay? What does she want? What did she tell you? (Chimamanda stood and observed the prince for a while before talking)

Chimamanda: prince, prince, you are a suspect o, uhm, uhm, she only told me to ask you about her mom. Ajuwe, and her brother.

Prince Nnamdi: is that all? Didn't she say anything again?

Chimamanda: (staring at him funnily) no Prince she didn't say anything else.

Prince Nnamdi: (disappointed) what is it you wanna ask about Ajuwe and the boy.

Chimamanda: she sent me to them, but I don’t know where they stay.

Prince Nnamdi: no problem, I will call a guard to direct you to their house.( he turned away from chimamanda and continued with what he was doing, chimamanda turned to leave with a grin on her face but she suddenly turned and called the Prince.)

Chimamanda: If there is something you want to tell Nina, this is the time to tell her, for in two market days she will be married to your father. (She turned and walked away as the Prince stared at her leaving)

Episode 22

Chimamanda got to Ajuwe’s house with the guard who prince Nnamdi sent to escort her. After he showed her the place, he turned and left. Chimamanda knocked on the small wooden door and a young lady in her mid 50s stepped out of the room.

Chimamanda: good evening ma, you must be Ajuwe?

Ajuwe: Bless you my child, yes I am Ajuwe, and you are the healer who cured my daughter the other day. Thank you so much.

Chimamanda: its my duty ma, there is no need to thank me.

Ajuwe: what brings you here child?

Chimamanda: I came to see you ma and the Prince.. ..ERM sorry and Ikenna.

Ajuwe was shocked to hear chimamanda refer to ikenna as the Prince. No other person knew ikenna was a prince except Nina and herself. She became scared as she stepped backwards.

Ajuwe: who are you? And why do you want to see my son?

Chimamanda: Ma, please don’t be afraid of me I mean no harm.

Ajuwe: why did you refer to ikenna as a prince, who are you and what do you want? Who sent you?

Chimamanda: Mama like I said I mean no harm, it was Nina who sent me to you.

Ajuwe: Nina sent you to me, and told you that Ikenna is a prince?

Chimamanda looked around to make sure no one was around and listening to them, then she drew closer to Ajuwe .

Chimamanda: mama, Nina didn't tell me anything, she didn't need to tell me anything. I know Ikenna is the Prince of EKEH because he is my brother, and I am a princess, the princess of EKEH. (Ajuwe was shocked, she moved back and stared at Chimamanda, wondering if to believe her or not. Just then Ikenna stepped in with his bow and arrows hanged on his neck)

Ikenna: What is going on here? (He rushes to Ajuwe and held her) step away from my mother he shouted, who are you and what do you want from my mother?(chimamanda drew close to him, staring deeply into his eyes, tears was already flowing from her eyes down her cheeks. Ikenna was confused he didn't understand why she was crying and trying to touch him)

Ikenna: young lady you are acting strange. Are you alright? What do you want from us.

Chimamanda: my brother, see my little brother has grown into a man, (the tears kept falling) look at how big you’ve become. The gods be praised. Oh my soul rejoices to see this day.

Ikenna: wait wait wait (he pushes her from him) I don't get you. You must have mistook me for someone else. Who are you again?

Chimamanda moved backward and pulled off the gloves in her hand revealing her finger that was cut off eleven years ago by Aguyi when he was ordered to go and kill her.

Chimamanda: its me your sister, who was carried away to be killed by the wicked king AZAZA.

Ikenna could not believe his eyes, he threw down his bow and arrows and ran to Chimamanda, looking her from head to toe, turning her round, tears had filled his eyes as chimamanda kept on talking.

Chimamanda: mother asked us to return to EKEH, she told us to revenge. Father gave me his royal ring and gave you his staff of leadership. The guard who escorted us was killed while he asked us to run. We were separated when I went to get more water for us to drink and I was captured……

Ikenna could not wait for her to finish, he rushed to her and gave her a tight embrace.

Ikenna, its really you, you are alive, (turning to Ajuwe) my sister is alive, this is my sister. Oh my sister is alive, the gods be praised. I thought I was alone, I thought It was just me and Nina, but you are alive. You remember Nina? The maid? She carried me, she took care of me until we met Ajuwe, she accepted us…..(chimamanda hushed him not to speak anymore she hugged him tight and both of them wept like babies)

Ajuwe: she is the healer that healed your sister Nina. They’ve already met.

Chimamanda: yes dear, I’ve met Nina, and she has told me everything, she directed me to you.

Ikenna: Today is the happiest day of my life, I have so much to tell you.

Chimamanda: dear brother am glad to see that you are alive and happy. Ma , I thank you for accepting my brother and Nina as your own. The gods will surely reward you. Ikenna, remember the promise we made to our father and mother. It is time to fulfill that promise.

Ikenna: yes sister, am already on it, come let me show you. (He carried chimamanda and took her to a side of the house, he showed her the plenty bow and arrows that he and Ajuwe had carved. Chimamanda was glad that his brother still carried the vision of their parents. She took them inside and narrates to them how Aguyi rescued and saved her life, then she started discussing their next line of action in how to defeat the wicked king AZAZA.)

Revenge!

Episode 23.

Chimamanda spent some time with Ajuwe and Ikenna before she left, she told them there were some things she must put in order and promised them she would return. As she left them she was filled with joy, she was finally reunited with her family. When she got home that day she decided to talk to Aguyi who was sitting outside in deep thoughts.

Chimamanda: Father what are you thinking of?

Aguyi: My dear, i didnt see you come in.

Chimamanda: I came in just now where is Chinwe?

Aguyi: she went to the stream to get some water.

Chimamanda: okay, father I want to talk to you about something.

Aguyi: I hope all is well my child.

Chimamanda: All is well sir.

Aguyi: so what is it you wanna discuss with me.

Chimamanda: Father, I will like to go to my village. I will like to return to Ekeh.

Aguyi: (he looked down for a while and then raised his head) I knew this day would come.

Chimamanda: how do you mean?

Aguyi: Let me tell you a story……Before the battle of OKU and EKEH, my only brother and i made a promise to my late father who was also a warrior in Oku, that we will be warriors that will defend our land. We also made a promise that we will only fight for good. And so when the igwe asked us to attack EKEH. My father demanded for facts to show and prove that EKEH was actually planning an attack on us. The igwe could not produce any reasonable facts, instead he said my father was challenging him and demanded that he be imprisoned. My father was thrown into the palace prison. My only brother decided not to go for the battle except my father was released.

On the night of the attack, the igwe summoned my brother and I and asked again if we would go with the other warriors for the attack. My brother again demanded the release of my father or else we wouldn’t go. The igwe now asked that my dad be brought forward. When the guards brought him. Right before our eyes the igwe beheaded him. He accused my father of treason. My brother in his rage tried to attack the king. And right before me he was also beheaded. I became afraid and scared. The igwe asked me if I was ready to go for the battle with the other warriors, because I was afraid of being killed like my father and brother, because I was a coward i accepted to go with the warriors.

When we got to Ekeh, I tried to alert some persons to inform the igwe your father, but I was too late. They were killed before they could even get close to the palace. I tried to save some persons but I also failed, because the eyes of the warriors was on me. The warrior head started getting me involved in everything by attaching me to every task.

Chimamanda my child, I am so sorry I couldn’t save EKEH, but I never shed one blood from your land. I am so sorry I was a coward. I never should have gone for that battle at all. I would have been brave as my brother and father, I would have died like a real man, but I was a coward, I am still a coward, that is why even my rights is taken away from me by Azaza and I can’t do anything about it.

Chimamanda: no father, you are not a coward. After my father you are the bravest man I’ve ever come across. And you did the right thing by going for that battle, if you didn’t maybe I would have been dead by now. The gods designed everything for a reason. So you are not a coward.

Aguyi: OKU is a wasted land with an evil king. I have waited for the opportunity to punish the king for all he did to me and my family. So my child, I am behind you 100% in every decision you will take. I will go with you to your fathers land.

Chimamanda: No father, you must stay behind. The time will come for you to go with me. But for now I must go alone. What I need you to do for me is help me look for men who carry grudges against the king, so they can join us in our quest. The king has offended lots of persons and for us to win this war we must have men and women who carry the same vision with us. Men who are ready to fight.

Aguyi: oh my child, you are so brave, I know some men who will be willing to join us.

Chimamanda: I know two men. Chief Obi and chief Ibe. I need you to talk to them and bring them into our plans. I know they will join us gladly.

Aguyi: that is no problem.

Chimamanda: There is something else I will reveal to you, but that will be on my return from EKEH. You must keep Chinwe safe before I return.

Aguyi: Be careful my child and may the gods of our land keep you safe.

(Aguyi gave Chimamanda a hug, he knew the set time has come, he watched her carry a keg of water, a small knife and a warriors sword, and she disappeared into the bush)

***************************************

It took her weeks to be able to locate the village for she was just but a child when she left. Chimamanda wept when she got to the land that was once her home. The whole place was deserted and abandoned. There were bones and skeletons of people all around. Bushes and grasses everywhere. Even animals had deserted the place.

Chimamanda was able to locate the palace that was once her home, the house was almost completely collapsed, everywhere was as silent as a grave yard. She could picture the killing afresh, she could hear the wailing and cryings of the people. She stepped into the room where she was separated from her parents. She remembered the parting. She saw the skeletons of her parents, she knew it was theirs because the chain her mom was wearing was still there. Even though it was looking old and rusted she could still recognize it. She saw her dads royal crown on the ground and she knew that was the remains of her dad on the ground. She could picture her dad and mom fighting the OKU warriors. She cried even more when she saw that her mom and dad died together on top of each other.

After crying for a while, she set out to work. She began clearing of the place. Firstly she carried the remains of her dad and mom and buried them in an open place in the compound. Then she started cleaning the compound, gathering the bones, clearing of grasses, and burning of rubbish.

When she was finished from the palace, she smiled to herself for it was beginning to take shape. Then she moved to the next house and then to the next and then to the next and gradually, chimamanda single handedly cleared the entire village of EKEH. She knew it would take her months to finish up and she was ready to do it all by herself.

Episode 24.

Its the Queen’s death remembrance, and every year on this day Prince Nnamdi always kept to himself. He has named that day a sad day for his life and so he always locked himself up in his room without food for the whole day.

On this day as usual the Prince kept to himself, the maid who had forgotten that it was the queens remembrance took his food to his room but he gently reminded her that he was to be without food the whole day. The maid apologized and took the food back. On his way back he met Nina who wondered why she was taking the food back.

Nina: whose food is that?

Maid: its the prince’s food

Nina: And where are you taking it to?

Maid: The Prince is to be without food today, so i am taking the food back to the kitchen.

Nina: and why is the Prince to be without food for today. What is happening?

Maid: it’s the late queen's remembrance today and the Prince normally uses today to honor his mother by staying without food and keeping to himself.

Nina was surprised to hear this. She took the food from the maid and asked her to leave.

Maid: That had been how it has been for the past 15years since the Queen passed on.

Nina: its okay just give me the food and show me where the Prince is.

The maid gave her the food and pointed out the direction of Prince Nnamdi for her. Nina carried the food and went straight to the room, he met the Prince lying down in his bed looking so sad. He was surprised to see her, he quickly sat up

Nina: I heard that you refused to eat and has declare today a fast as a way to remember your mom the late Queen.

Prince Nnamdi: This is how it has always been.

Nina: Really? And who says you can’t eat and mourn your mom. You can eat and still remember her….

Prince Nnamdi: Thanks but I don't want to eat and remember her. Just let me be. I really need to be alone.

Nina: listen , my mom, my dad, my brothers and sisters all died the same day.

Prince Nnamdi: What? How is that possible? I thought Ajuwe was your mom.

Nina: Ajuwe is not my biological mom. Ajuwe only took me in and took me as her own when I lost my family.

Prince Nnamdi: Am so sorry about that. What happened to your family?

Nina stared at him for a while before answering.

Nina: They were murdered by a wicked man. They were accused falsely of plotting against the man to steal from him. they were judged and condemned without them even knowing and on that faithful night they were murdered, I only managed to escape, if not I would have died too.

Prince Nnamdi: wow, you mean one man just one man was responsible for the killing of your entire family? that man deserves to be killed too.

Nina: After stabbing my parents and my siblings he burnt them alive in our house.

Prince Nnamdi: what? What kind of a man is that? That man is not a man but a monster.(Nina was just looking at him) that man deserves to die a horrible death, a slow and painful one.

Nina: His time will come. But my point of telling you is that I still mourn my family, i still remember them, but I don't starve myself in the process. Or maybe you want to join your mom abi? (Nnamdi looked at her with an angry eye) don't look at me like that, if you don't want to join her you will eat.

Prince Nnamdi: you don't understand. My mother died mysteriously and I am yet to understand what happened. And whenever I think of it, I just lose my appetite.

Nina: what happened? Tell me how she died.

Prince Nnamdi: I was still very much younger, father was sleeping with a maid, mom was against it, and she wanted to tell the elders about it. She summoned the elders for a meeting but that night she slept and didn't wake up. She had told me everything that night before we went to bed. How she died I can’t explain. Sometimes I want to believe that father has something to do with her death but ……..I really don't know.(Nina looked at him for a while and then shook her head)

Nina: its all in the past, you have to move on with your life. Even the Queen mother will not be happy that you are starving yourself so please brace up and eat your food.

Prince Nnamdi: its okay, I will eat but that will be later.

Nina: okay since you won’t eat, I won’t eat either.

Prince Nnamdi: ah! Go and eat your food o. Don't starve yourself because of me o.

Nina: if you won’t eat then I won’t eat.

Prince Nnamdi: (Stares at her for a while ) its okay then, bring the food let’s eat together. (Nina smiles to herself she has been able to convince the Prince to eat. She put the food down and together they ate and hosted into the night.

Revenge!

Episode 25

Nina’s marriage to the king was fast approaching and preparation was on going. The king was excited about his new bride. He had invited kings from other kingdoms to grace the occasion.

On this cool evening, Nina was in her room, arranging the clothes which the maids have given to her that she would wear on her wedding day, as she was there arranging, the door suddenly flung open and king AZAZA walked in.

Nina was surprised to see him for he had never stepped into her room. she was furious and filled with anger.

Nina: what do you want igwe?

King Azaza: is that how to address the king? Your husband and your Lord?

Nina: husband to be, not yet my husband.

King Azaza: in two days. just two days.

Nina: yes in two days. But until then, please igwe stay away from my room.

King Azaza: what do you mean by that? I am the igwe, and this is my house, I have right to any room and any woman I so please.

Nina: yes but not this woman.

King Azaza ignored Nina and pushed her to the bed, Nina struggled to free away from him but couldn’t and so she began to scream. The guards and maids heard her but they were too scared to go into the room. King AZAZA kept on tearing her clothes and she fought with all her might and screamed so hard until the Prince heard her voice and ran to her aid.

Prince Nnamdi: what is going on here, father are you trying to rape her?

King AZAZA: how can you call sleeping with my own wife rape? (He said while standing up and arranging himself)

Prince Nnamdi: But that is what it is because she is not yet your wife.

King AZAZA: But she will be my wife in two days, what is the difference between then and now?

Prince Nnamdi: a lot father, a lot can change in two days. So please let her be.

(King Azaza walked out of the room angrily without saying a word and prince Nnamdi sat by Nina to console her. The king left the palace and decided to take a stroll by the garden to cool off his temper. He shouted at any guard he saw along his path. He was still walking angrily, he didn't notice the nail on the floor. He stepped on it and landed on the floor screaming and shouting. The guards ran to his rescue and helped him inside the palace as he shouted and cried out in pains.

Episode 26.

The igwe was rushed into the palace and the best traditional healers was sent for at once. The Prince also sent for Ezemmuo

When the healers came, they managed to remove the big nail that was inside the igwe's leg, they also applied some herbs and medicine to the leg and assured the Prince that soon enough the king would be up and bouncing and ready for his wedding.

The prince was very disturbed and worried for in as much as he was not friends with his father he was not yet ready to be an orphan. The elders and rulers gathered around the king praying for him to get well. Prince Nnamdi could not withstand his father whirling in pains and so he stepped outside the palace to clear his head and odogwu followed him.

Odogwu: my Prince, I know you are worried over your father the king, but I am here for you. Do not be worried, the gods are not dead and they know what they are doing.

Prince Nnamdi has never liked chief odogwu, he has heard stories about him and he didn't intend to be friends with him, he didn't even like that odogwu was talking to him, and so he made attempt to walk away, but the chief was not done talking.

Chief Odogwu: my Prince, these are hard and trying times, and in this hard times, as a young prince, I know you need guidance and counselling, i just want you to know that I am here for you always to guide you and support you

Prince Nnamdi: thank you so much chief Odogwu, but I am just fine.(he made an attempt to leave again, but the chief continued)

Chief Odogwu: my Prince, you know that right now that the king is sick, he won’t be able to carry out his duties as a ruler, and you know the kingdom cannot just be left like that. The kingdom needs a ruler, and from the look of things I don't think you are ready to rule, or are you? (he asked looking at the king).

Prince Nnamdi: chief Odogwu, what exactly is your point. Stop beating around the bush and hit the nail on the head

Chief Odogwu: hehehehehe, my Prince you are a very wise boy, erm, my point is since you are not ready to rule, why not appoint someone who is ready and capable, a strong man that your father would have loved and chosen if he had the chance, why not appoint such a man to rule for the time being, until you are ready, or the igwe is completely cured to rule. That way the kingdom won’t have to be without a leader and other villages won’t take advantage of us.

Prince Nnamdi: (folding his hands and looking at him) and who would you recommend I chose for this great task.

Chief Odogwu: that’s my point son, its a great task indeed and whoever you would chose should be someone who has the interest of this great land at heart. And someone strong enough to pilot the affairs of the people.

Prince Nnamdi: yes! So who would you suggest I name to rule us pending when am ready to rule.

Chief Odogwu: Well ERM, I really can’t say that to you o. You are the Prince, you know the people of the village better, you know the strong men among us and you also know the weak men, so you know who best fit to rule for the time being. Except you want me to just do it, though its a very tasky assignment, a great task like you call it. Azaza is my friend and you are like a son to me, so if you want me to do it, I will just do it for your sake, though it will be tight for me but for your sake I will just do it.

Prince Nnamdi: oh no sir, I do not want to stress anyone or task anybody o, most especially you sir. So if its going to be a great task for you. Then there is no need appointing….

Chief Odogwu : (quickly responded without allowing the Prince land and complete his statement) no no no no, that’s not what I mean. Who says I cannot do it, I am a strong man, your father the king can attest to that. I can rule and be king pending when you are ready that won’t be an issue at all.

Prince Nnamdi: so it means you want to be king pending when my father heals and I am ready.

Chief Odogwu: With your sanctioning my Prince why not. I will gladly move this land to their next victory. I will change the land, everyone will love me, I will……

Prince Nnamdi (cuts in) oh its okay. I will think about it.

Chief Odogwu: no problem my Prince, just do it fast before news flies to other villages that our king is sick and then they begin to plan an attack against us.

Prince Nnamdi: No problem chief. I will

Nnamdi walked away thinking to himself how wicked Odogwu must be. Just a day after the king gets into a house accident he was already planning on taking over his kingdom. He wished his father was wise enough to see the kind of friend Odogwu was before all of this had happened.

Revenge!

Episode 27.

Its been 2months since the princess Chimamanda went to Ekeh village, Aguyi has been able to assemble 32 young men, and 60women who are ready to fight against the wicked king Azaza for the evil done to them. Aguyi had told them to wait the return of the princess.

Meanwhile, the igwe’s health has deteriorated drastically, his leg has began to rotten from down up to his waist. One leg was completely condemned and it has begun to enter into the second leg. But despite his situation he has refused to give his crown to the Prince.

King Azaza: Nnamdi, I know you are happy over my predicament, I know you want me to die fast so that you will take over my crown and be king.

Prince Nnamdi: Father why are you talking like that? I have been bringing different healers for you. If I wanted you dead I will sit and do nothing and let you rot away.

King Azaza: if you really want me to get well why have you not sent for Aguyi’s daughter, the healer who healed Nina. Why have you not sent for her to cure me.

Prince Nnamdi: Father but I told you, she is not here in this village, we have searched all over for her and she is no where to be found. Why would I hide away whoever or whatever I know would heal you or are you no longer my father ?

King Azaza: Nnamdi, I know you, you will kill me by your hands if you had the chance.

Prince Nnamdi: why are you talking like this?

King Azaza: do you think am stupid? You think I don't know that you are in love with the woman I intend to marry? You think I don't know that you have your eyes on her from the moment I brought her into this palace? You think I don't see the way you’ve been all over her like her Prince in shining amour? Oh! You think I don't know? I know you would do anything to have me out of the way so you can have her.

Prince Nnamdi: oh father ! I am so disappointed in you. Do you think I am as evil as you are? it is because your heart is evil that you think evil of every one. As wicked as you are I can never wish or do you evil because you are still my father.

King Azaza: Listen let me tell you, you can never have her, you will never have her, because she is mine and mine alone. Do you hear me? Mine…… Guar……d, guarddddddd (he screamed at the top of his voice, the guard came running to the igwe). Please call me the ezemmuo now. Goooooo.

The guard ran off and the Prince began to wonder what his father was up to this time. He took a chair and sat by his father waiting for the chief priest to arrive.

King Azaza: So you are sitting down, it’s even better because I want you to witness what is about to happen. (It wasn’t long before the chief priest came in with the guard who went to fetch him.)

Chief priest: igwe, you sent for me.

King Azaza: oh good, ezemmuo you are here, please I need you to do something for me. Meanwhile guard go and fetch me the queen to be, ( the guard ran off again and came back with Nina who was beautifully dressed in a queen's attire).

King Azaza: Ezemmuo, I called you here so that you can pronounce her as my wife, my son here will be the witness to this Union.

Chief priest: But Igwe, you are not well, you can’t even stand and you are thinking of marriage.

King Azaza: ezemmuo, this is what I want. I want you to pronounce her as my wife.

Prince Nnamdi: father what is the meaning of this, you should be thinking of your health and not marriage.

King Azaza: son, thank you so much for your concern, allow me to think of what I want to think of. Ezemmuo, please go ahead and do as I say.

(The Prince ran to Nina and held her hands)

Prince Nnamdi: Nina, Nina, don't marry him, don't agree to this. Please am begging you, don't marry my father, I love you and I will take care of you. Please don't marry him.

King Azaza: oh oh oho, I said it. Now you’ve finally spoken up. You love her, you love your father’s wife. Foolish boy! Today you will know that I am not just your father but I am also your king. Ezemmuo, please go ahead and pronounce her my queen.

Nina: (turns to the Prince) I'm so sorry, I must obey the call of destiny.

Chief priest: ( does some incantations) young woman, do you accept to be the wife of the king and to be the Queen of the land?

Nina: I accept.

Chief priest: From this day onward, I pronounce you, Queen of OKU LAND! (and a crown was placed on her head, the wicked king AZAZA let out a loud laugh as Prince Nnamdi walks away in frustration).

Chimamanda: Father, it is time.

Aguyi: my child, you took quite a long time. What happened to you, you look different.

Chimamanda: I went to prepare our home. And now, we must go back to Ekeh and resurrect it. Did you gather the people I asked you to.

Aguyi: yes my child, we have warriors awaiting your command.

Chimamanda: Good, Now I must alert my brother, the future king of EKEH!

Aguyi: your brother? What brother?

Chimamanda: I am sorry father, I should have told you earlier, but my brother, the Prince of Ekeh didn't die in the battle of that night. He survived and he is alive here in OKU.

Aguyi: Really? Who is he? And where is he?

Chimamanda: patience, father, soon you will meet with him. Firstly, you must take Nkechi, the old women and children who stand for us to EKEH, where they will be safe. The weak and feeble must all go over to EKEH.

Aguyi: But where would they live, EKEH is a wasted land.

Chimamanda: not anymore father, not anymore. Help me gather those who are for us, my brother and I would address them tonight. For by tomorrow, the revenge against OKU will begin. So gather them all.

Chimamanda got to Ajuwe’s house, she met Ikenna outside carving out bows and arrows. They both ran into each other's arms as Ikenna admired his sister from head to toe.

Chimamanda: Get ready brother, the hour has come. (Ajuwe stepped out of the house and gave Chimamanda a warm embrace)

Ajuwe: welcome child.

Chimamanda: Mother, pack up, we leave tonight.

Ikenna: leave?to where?

Chimamanda: we are going home mother, we return to our father's land.

Ajuwe: Oh! Finally, how I have longed to leave this land that is filled with the blood of the innocent. (She went inside and started packing)

Ikenna: But I can’t leave.

Chimamanda: why?

Ikenna: Nina, I can’t leave Nina, she became a sister to me when you were not here, I can’t just leave her here.

Chimamanda: (smiles) we are not leaving her here. She is part of the plan. And she knows everything.

Ikenna: But you have to fill me in on the plan.

Chimamanda: I will but we have to address our people first.

Ikenna: our people? What people?

Chimamanda: come with me, you will see them soonest.

The Prince and princess discussed as they moved to go and see their people. The princess filled the Prince on the plan she had with NINA!

Revenge!

Episode 29.

Chimamanda was surprised at the crowd she saw when she arrived at Aguyi’s house. Both men and women admired her as she stepped on the podium that was prepared for her.

Chimamanda: Good evening my fathers, brothers and sisters. My name is PRINCESS CHIMAMANDA OBAMA, daughter of the Kate king OBAMA the second of EKEH land. Everyone of us are a witness to the brutal killing of my parents and my people. Everyone of us have tasted from the wicked deeds of king Azaza, everyone of us have experienced and witness one pain or the other caused by this evil king.

And now the time has come for EKEH to take her revenge against the king and the wickedness done to us. We gather you here today because we don't want you to suffer with the king. When oil stains one finger, if care is not taken, it spreads round the other fingers. The people of OKU will definitely be affected by what is to come upon OKU, the smell of the shit that has robbed the king will go round the land.

Therefore I wanna give us the opportunity once again to decide where you belong. An opportunity to chose where to stay. It is time for a decision to be made. If you wanna remain in OKU, please indicate now, if you wanna go over with us to EKEH, then the time to speak is now.

We will not hold it against you if you decide to stay in OKU, We will not hold it against you if you decide to stand by your king but know this day that OKU is an enemy to EKEH, so be not offended if you partake of the sorrow that is about to hit your land. Therefore make up your minds now, will you forsake your fathers land OKU, the land of your birth and move over to EKEH,which will become your new home, defend EKEH, fight for EKEH and live in EKEH till you die and be buried in EKEH?

As the princess finished her statement, AGUYI, picked his sword and moved behind the princess, followed by NKECHI his daughter, and then AJUWE, and gradually all the people moved behind the princess, they were all ready to go with her. One of the young warrior spoke first.

1st Man: I have nothing left in OKU, from the day our igwe saw my wife, he cast an evil eye in her and will not let her rest until he slept with her. He got her pregnant and demanded for the pregnancy to be removed, when she refused, to cover his shame, he had her killed. Since then I have lived in sadness and pains. I have nothing in OKU. My princess I will go with you to EKEH. I believe I will find joy again in your land.

2nd Man: King Azaza sent my two sons to fight in the land of EKEH, and they died in that battle. The king did not dim it fit to even honour them instead he called my sons lazy and weak, and that was why they died in battle.

1st Woman: The only landed property my husband left for me and my child, king Azaza collected it and gave it to his wicked friend Odogwu.

2nd Woman: The igwe took away my virginity as a maiden. He promised to make me his Queen but he didn't. Instead he labelled me a prostitute and had me flogged openly. Infact I am causing the igwe everyday of my life. I don't want to remain here Princess my spirit, body and soul is already in EKEH with you.

One by one the villagers narrated their tales of one thing or the other that king AZAZA had done to them, and the princess listened to them all. Finally she spoke up.

Chimamanda: I am not going to promise you milk and honey in EKEH, I am not going to promise you that its all going to be rosy but one thing I can promise you is that, we will work together. Its going to be a collective effort. I am here to promise you that together we will build the land of EKEH, we will live in peace and harmony. You will not be oppressed, you will not be ruled by a tyrant, you will not be manhandled. We will grow in love, we will will grow in harmony.

Aguyi: My child, we are ready to follow you. Just lead the way and we will go.

Chimamanda: Thank you so much father, At this point, I will like to introduce someone to you all. He is from EKEH, a true blood of EKEH, a Royal blood of EKEH, he is young but he is brave, I have never seen a man so brave, I draw my strength from him. He is my brother and our future King. I am just but a woman but he is a man and by his leading, EKEH will rise again. Ladies and gentle men, I present to you our future king. Prince IKENNA OBAMA, son and heir to the throne of EKEH!

The people began to scream in joy ,they were so surprised as Ikenna stepped forward, even Aguyi was shocked to see Ikenna. He had always seen him around but he never knew he was the Prince. Ikenna took the stage as he addressed his people.

Ikenna: Thank you so much my sister. My good people of EKEH, I greet you. This is indeed a dream come true for me. Like my sister has rightly said, we will work together to build EKEH. EKEH will rise and we will rise with it.

The people began to clap.

Chimamanda: tonight we go back to our land. There are houses everywhere. Just chose anyone you want to chose and stay.

My father Aguyi would lead you to the land, my brother and I will stay back, we have a business to conclude with OKU.

(aguyi led the way and the people followed. As they went to EKEH, ikenna and chimamanda sat back to discuss their next plan of action).

Episode 30.

Chimamanda took Ikenna to a hut she had built in the bush, and showed him the gallons of chemicals that she had gathered in the hut.

The plan was to empty the chemicals into the rivers and lakes in the land.

Chimamanda told Ikenna it was his duty to pour the chemical into the rivers, she will go and set fire in their store rooms, where they keep and store their food stuffs.

Chimamanda: Are you scared? (She asked ikenna)

Ikenna: Never! I have waited all my life for this and now that the time is come nothing will make me stay back.

Chimamanda carried the jerrycans of chemical for Ikenna. She removed her royal clothes and wore her warrior clothes.

Ikenna: I want to accompany you to the king.

Chimamanda: No brother, I have a personal vendetta with the king. I have a score to settle with him. (She pulled off the gloves and showed Ikenna her finger.) You see this? The igwe has to pay for this. The revenge against EKEH begins tonight.

They both held their hands and prayed a short prayer. They asked the spirit of their parents and the spirits of all those who died at EKEH to go with them. They hugged themselves and went their different ways to perform their assignment.

Ikenna carried the jerrycans of chemicals and went straight to the river. He emptied the jerrycans into the river, then he moved to the stream, there he emptied all the chemicals into the streams, he moved from one stream to the other and from one river to the other and when he was done. He went back to Aguyi’s house to wait for his sister.

Chimamanda got to the palace where Nina was waiting for her. Nina gave her the different rooms to the stores, Nina had also gathered four guards who has sworn allegiance to her. She ordered them to go with chimamanda to show her the store rooms. When they got there, the princess had them load a quite number of food in a truck. Then she ordered them to take it to Ekeh, when they’ve gone, chimamanda emptied the gallons of fuel around the store rooms, and then she struck the matches , she stepped aside and watched the store room, go up in flames.

The cries of people wailing and shouting and running around the store room filled the place. Chimamanda sneaked out of the place.

Chimamanda: this is just the beginning (she said to herself).

Revenge!

Episode 31

The cries of fire! fire! fire! filled the air. Prince Nnamdi was confused as he called for the guards to do something. There was panic everywhere, the people were running up and down and trying to put off the fire to prevent it from spreading to houses around the store house.

Eventually the fire was put off, but all the food in the store house was already burnt and destroyed.

The king who by now was completely down and could barely lift himself up was told about the fire, he sat in one place, shouting for someone to put off the fire but nobody seemed to think of him, all they were interested in was saving the food. He was confined to a wheel chair that he cannot even move by himself.

When the fire was finally out, and the villagers had returned to their homes, Prince Nnamdi decided to check on Nina if she was okay. Since she married his father he had done his best to avoid her. Especially after confessing his love for her in that manner. He felt like a fool. When he got to the entrance of her room, he wanted to knock but he was too embarrassed to do so and so he turned to leave. He didn't know that his father was right behind him as a guard had helped wheeled him to that place.

King Azaza: Nnamdi, have you come here to sleep with my wife? Is that the reason you set a fire to distract me and my people so that you can have the chance to sleep with her?

(Nnamdi ignored the king and made to walk away), listen, if you were not my son I would have had you beheaded a long time ago. It is because I do not want the crown to leave this family that is why I have kept you alive. But even as I have done that don't push me to the wall. Do you hear me, Nnamdi don't push me to the wall. (Nnamdi walked away ignoring his father, the king pushed open Nina’s room and asked the guard to roll him in, which he did. After which the king asked him to leave).

King Azaza: bia, you are my wife, whatever you think you are doing with my son you better stop it because the day I catch you, I will have you disgraced and killed.

(Nina burst out laughing)

Nina: so you are still talking, you who is almost half dead you are still talking.

King Azaza: Are you talking to me like that? do you know I  am your husband and your king?

Nina: No Azaza, you are not my king, you may be my husband but you can never be my king. I know only one king, and that is king OBAMA the second, whom you killed in cold blood.

King Azaza: what do you mean? What are you talking about?

Nina: yes! Husband, you heard me well, I am from EKEH land.

King Azaza: Ekeh?

Nina: Yes Ekeh, same Ekeh whom you thought you’ve wiped out. Same Ekeh. You killed my parents and my siblings, you killed my king and Queen and you almost killed my princess and my Prince.

King Azaza: Almost?

Nina: Yes almost, you thought you did, but you failed. Aguyi did not kill the princess, and now all you have done, you will harvest.

King Azaza: Listen you fool. You’ve made a big mistake revealing yourself to me and telling me of your little secret. Now I will …….

Nina: you will do nothing, you fool, you are the one who made a huge mistake by carrying your miserable self into my room. Now this is where you will spend the rest part of your days.

(King Azaza tried to call the guards but Nina quickly tucked a big cloth inside his mouth making it impossible for him to scream. She carefully tied him up to the wheel chair and rolled him inside her big wardrobe. Then she dusted herself and walked gallantly out of the room. The guard was standing outside.

Queen Nina: the igwe has said he doesn’t want to be disturbed as he wants to spend quality time with his new Queen.

Guard: yes your majesty.

Queen Nina: secondly he has said that anyone who has anything to discuss with him should see me first. Is that clear?

Guard: yes your majesty.

Queen: Now go

(The guard bowed down for her and walked away, just then Nina sighted Prince Nnamdi looking at her. He walked up to her)

Prince Nnamdi: I hope you are alright

Queen Nina: I am fine

Prince Nnamdi: Is my father still with you?

Queen Nina: yes, he doesn’t want to be disturbed.

(The Prince looked at her for sometime and she turned her face away, then he also walked away, Nina went back into her chambers and shut the door behind her).

Episode 32

Odogwu: Igwe, igwe, there is fire on the mountain oooooo, igwe where are you? (Odogwu marched into the palace seeking for the igwe, instead he met the Queen sited on the throne with the guards protecting her) where is the igwe , (he shouted), where is the king?

Queen Nina: Is that the first thing to do when you see your queen?

Odogwu: (looking at her) I need to see the king, there is fire on the mountain.

Queen Nina: how dare you? (She stands up and gives him a dirty slap)

Odogwu: hey! Aru! (abominations) hey! you just slapped me, you just slapped a titled chief.

Queen Nina: guards , take him away and lock him up in the palace cell, since he does not know how to talk to his Queen. (The guards held odogwu and dragged him to the cell as he screamed and shouted all the way, not long, some council of elders came in, demanding to see the king, Nina told them that the king has demanded to take his rest and does not want to be disturbed

Queen Nina: whatever you have to discuss with the king, you can pass the message through me, I will pass it on to my husband, your king.(when the chiefs discovered that there was no way they could see the king, they explained to Nina that their rivers and streams has been polluted, all the fishes were dead and the water contaminated, and now there was no water anywhere to drink, neither was there life in the streams.

Queen Nina: this is really serious. Okay don't worry much I will pass your message on to the king. (She stood up and left the elders sited there. They were determined not to leave until they spoke with the igwe. Nina went into her room and opened the wardrobe, she pulled out the igwe who had begun to rotten in his second leg up to his hands. His condition was worsening from lack of care and medication.

Queen Nina: oh dear husband, look at you, you have begun to smell, so bad that I want to puke. But not to worry, I will survive. I just want to inform you that your elders are here, and they said your rivers and stream is contaminated, the fishes are all dead and there is no water to drink.

(King Azaza tried to speak but could not because of the cloth that is still stuck to his mouth)

Queen Nina: you said? are you trying to say something? You said, I can’t hear you hahaha hahaha (she burst out laughing,) oh! My poor, poor husband, do you know what is happening to your land? Your land is harvesting the evil you sowed., your people are paying for your sins, and now they need you to save them, but don't worry your queen is here, I will take good care of them for you okay?

(King Azaza tried to raise his hands but he was too weak from lack of food, plus his predicament and so he just laid there and watched as Nina roles him back inside the wardrobe. She took her perfume and sprayed it round the room and laid down to sleep for a while. Meanwhile the elders were still sited in the sitting room. Towards evening, Nina woke up, took her bath changed her clothes and stepped out again. She was surprised when she saw the elders still there.)

Queen Nina!: Elders, you are still here?

Chief: we were waiting for you to deliver our message to the king. By the way, where is he?

Queen Nina: oh the king, you all know he is not feeling too well, and we are currently on our honey moon. The king says for now he won’t be able to attend to you all, he said I should over see the affairs of this land on his behalf while he rests and also have his honeymoon.

Warrior head: how can our own igwe say that, when the land is about to perish.

Queen Nina: Are you calling your Queen a liar?

Warrior head: no your majesty, I can’t do that.

Queen Nina: the king has said we should find a means to survive with whatever water we can gather from rain , he said he believes things will turn around soon enough. Now please leave. Tomorrow is another day.(the chiefs were disappointed but they turned and left)

Episode 33

Queen Nina ordered for Odogwu to be released after spending two days in the palace cell. When he was brought before the Queen. He quickly knelt down before he would be imprisoned again.

Odogwu: my Queen I am so sorry for my behaviour the last time, please forgive me.

Queen Nina: look at me

Odogwu; My Queen please forgive me, I am not worthy to look at you

Queen Nina: I said raise your head and look at me.

(Odogwu raised his head and looked at the Queen, and then he recognised her, memories of her as a maid flooded his mind, he quickly jumped to his feet)

Odogwu: what is the meaning of this rubbish? (turning to the guard) what is this maid doing, sitting on the queen's seat?( a quick slap on his face brought reality to him)

Guard: Don't ever talk to the queen like that?

Odogwu: Queen? What Queen? This maid? (Another slap landed on his face and it dawned on him that something was happening)

Queen Nina: it’s obvious that you have gone mad. Now listen to me, you have been a bad boy, a very bad boy, for this reason the king has asked me to strip you of your title and take away all the entitlements and benefits he gave to you.

Odogwu: what is the meaning of this? What are you trying to do.

Queen Nina: From this moment, the lands given to you by the king are no longer yours. The house where you currently live in is no longer yours. Your wife and children have already been thrown out as we speak. You are to live as a commoner, in this land and the day you dare challenge or talk to anyone anyhow in this village you will be banished. (Prince Nnamdi stepped in just as she was finishing up her last statement)

Prince Nnamdi: what is going on here?

Odogwu: oh thank the gods! Thank the gods you are here, I dont know who this little maid thinks she is, she….

Prince Nnamdi: excuse me,(he shouted at odogwu) you will address the Queen with respect!

Odogwu: Queen? Queen? But how can that be? How can this maid be Queen?

Prince Nnamdi: chief Odogwu are you okay? I just told you to address the Queen with respect and yet you are still talking nonsense?

Odogwu: but how is it possible? How is she the Queen?

Prince Nnamdi: well, it is what it is, this is queen Nina, my father’s new wife, and so she is the queen of this land and you will address her with respect.

(Odogwu was shocked at this revelation, he didnt understand what was going on, he turned to leave but he suddenly stopped and talked to the Prince)

Odogwu: But she is taking everything from me, she is rendering me homeless and penniless.

Prince Nnamdi: yes Nina, sorry , your majesty, what was that? I heard you say something before I came in.

Queen Nina: it is what the king wants.

Prince Nnamdi: But how can the king want that, he and Odogwu are friends, for a long time now.

Odogwu: yes! Good friends.

Queen Nina: well I dont know, but that’s what he wants.

Prince Nnamdi: well I have to speak to him, I have to understand why.

Queen Nina: But you can’t speak with him.

Prince Nnamdi: and why is that?

Queen Nina: Because he doesn’t want to be disturbed

Prince Nnamdi: well that’s bullshit (and he started walking towards Nina’s room, odogwu was happy, Nina had to do something before the Prince finds out what she is doing, she quickly ran and blocked the entrance to the door before the Prince could step in.

Prince Nnamdi: what are you doing?

Queen Nina: well you can’t go in there.

Prince Nnamdi: why?

Queen Nina: Because the king is naked, (Nnamdi stared at her) yes! The king is naked, we just finished making love and I told him I needed those titles taken away from Odogwu and he agreed and told me to go ahead and tell him.(the Prince looked at her for sometime, disgusted at her attitude and then walked away to his own room)

Prince Nnamdi: I thought you were different, but I can see you and my father are a perfect match. (He walks away)

Odogwu: (to the Prince) but what about me?

Prince Nnamdi: do as your queen has ordered.(he walked away)

Episode 34.

Chief Odogwu was still in shock over what just happened, he walked home in a hurry intending to find out if what Nina had said earlier was true. When he got home he saw his wife and two children sited outside, His wife told him how he was pushed outside and locked out. Chief Odogwu was confused, he had no idea what to do, he had no friend in the village except for the king and now the king was no where to be found. He decided to rally around some chiefs if anyone could help accommodate his family for the time being, pending when he would meet with the king and reclaim his properties. He even went as far as promising whoever that helps him a whooping amount of money, nobody was ready to accommodate him. Luckily for him the former warrior head finally agreed to help him. Odogwu was relived. In the evening they sat outside his hut to discuss.

Odogwu: something is not right

Warrior head: how do you mean?

Odogwu: the queen, the igwe’s wife. How did she become the queen?

Warrior head: I don't get you, how do you mean how did she become the queen? She married the king and became the queen.

Odogwu: but how is it possible?

Warrior head: how do you mean? A man and a woman met, and they married, that’s how it was possible.

Odogwu: you don’t understand my friend.

Warrior head: what is it I dont understand? Make me understand.

Odogwu: you see the king's wife, that girl sitting on the throne, your new queen is a maid.

Warrior head: you are confusing me the more, how can the Queen be a maid?

Odogwu: she is a maid. Or she was a maid. She was a maid to my step brother the late king Obama of Ekeh land.

Warrior head: Ekeh ke,

Odogwu: yes EKEH.

Warrior head: which Ekeh? The same Ekeh?

Odogwu: the same Ekeh

Warrior head: its not possible.

Odogwu: what do you mean it's not possible. I am telling you she is a maid you are saying not possible. She served my brother and me, I recognize her well.

Warrior head: but its not possible, I led the battle against EKEH and I made sure everyone was killed.

Odogwu: And I tell you it's not everyone. That wretch of a maid survived.

Warrior head: But how’s that possible? I oversaw the killing of everyone myself.

Odogwu, you should be the one telling me how it is possible. Because that girl I saw is the same maid. And if she is the queen then she is hiding something, then something is really wrong and we might just all be in danger.

.warrior head: who is we? Why would we be in trouble.

Odogwu: Are you seriously asking that?

Warrior head: I have to speak to the king.

Odogwu: that’s the problem. She will not allow you or anyone see him. Imagine the witch locked me up for two days after stripping me of my entitlement. She won’t allow me speak to the igwe .

Warrior head: no wonder she wouldn’t let us see him when we went to complain to him on our polluted seas and streams.

Odogwu: am glad you are beginning to understand.

Warrior head: but are you sure, because if you are not.

Odogwu: I am very positive.

Warrior head: I will confirm and speak to the king, if he is not available for chats, then I, will speak to the Prince himself. ..

Revenge!

Episode 35

The next day the warrior head decided to visit the igwe as early as possible, before the Queen would wake up, and so he set out on his way to the King’s palace.

Surprisingly, he saw Nina sneaking out of the palace. She was dressed in casual clothes but the warrior head recognized her, he wondered why she was dressed like that and where she was sneaking to at the early hours of the morning, and so he decided to follow her.

Nina walked past the forest deep down through thick bushes, and finally she got to where Chimamanda was patiently waiting. The warrior head continued to follow until he saw her talking with another young girl, he wanted to have a hood view of the girl to be able to identify her and also to hear whatever it was they wanted to discuss, and so he went a little bit closer and hid himself carefully behind the leaves. He could hear them greeting each other clearly and exchanging pleasantries.

Chimamanda: How is Azaza?

Queen Nina: Dying slowly in my wardrobe.

The warrior head was shocked to hear this. So the king was dying he thought to himself, no wonder the Queen had hidden him from being seen by his people. The Queen must be so evil. But who was this girl she was talking to?

Chimamanda: that’s very good. Azaza will pay for his wicked deeds. What about the villagers how are they coping without water?

Queen Nina: my princess, not good, animals have begun to die from lack of water, the crops are dying and even the people have started falling sick.

Chimamanda: They will suffer for the choices they made. They chose to stay with their wicked king and so they will suffer with him.

Queen Nina: my princess , will the water ever be healed?

Chimamanda: I have what I can use to restore the waters back to life, but not now. Let them all pay for their wickedness.

Queen Nina: But there are some innocent persons that are suffering along side the king.

Chimamanda : (,looks at her in a funny way) innocent ones like the Prince? (Nina kept her head down in silence) listen Nina whatever you are enjoying while in OKU , you can share with anyone you feel is innocent the prince included. I trust you, that is why we increased the portion of everything we brought in for you, water and food. If they ain't enough you can always order for more.

Queen Nina: Thank you my princess. So what’s the next plan of action.

Chimamanda: we take away their gold. For those gold, our land was destroyed, now we will take away everything from them. Do you know where they keep their treasures?

Queen Nina: not really but I do have an idea. I have seen the king before lock up one of the chambers in the palace with strict warning for no one to go close. I believe the gold is there.

(The warrior head knew that Nina was very right. The gold of OKU was safely locked up in that chamber. He understood that Nina and whoever this lady she was talking to were both from EKEH, and he had heard all their plans. As he was about leaving he saw chimamanda remove her gloves.)

Chimamanda: The king still has my royal ring. You must get it from him. That ring is a symbol of the kingdom of EKEH.

QUEEN Nina: That is no problem at all, I will get it.

(The warrior head quickly understood everything, this girl was the same princess of 11years ago whom he had ordered Aguyi to kill. He saw her finger that was chopped off.)

Warrior head: (to himself) I must go back to the prince and rescue the king and tell him all I’ve heard. (He turned to leave but a mighty wood hit him on his head and he fell to the ground, the sound attracted Nina and chimamanda, who quickly ran to the direction where it came from. They saw the warrior head, and they saw Ikenna standing over him with a big wood in his hand)

Ikenna: I guess he followed you from the palace, he has been eaves dropping. Thank the gods I caught him here if not all our plans would have been ruined.

Queen Nina: so what do we do with him now.

Chimamanda: don't you worry about that, you return to the palace, Ikenna and I will take care of him.

Queen Nina: okay my princess. (she hugged Ikenna once before she turned and hurried back to the palace, because it would be dawn soon and she wants to get back before anyone notices that she was gone.)

Episode 36

Everywhere was dark, so dark he couldn’t tell if he had opened his eyes or not. His head was hurting so bad, slowly he started remembering what had happened. He knew a big wood landed on his head but he couldn’t tell who hit him. He tried to stand up but he couldn’t, he realized his hands and feet was tied.

He struggled for a while, trying to remove the ropes but he couldn’t and then he started shouting for help. Chimamanda and Ikenna stepped into the room and switched on the light.

Chimamanda: you can scream from now till forever, there is no one coming to rescue you.

Warrior head: Will you release me now and let me go? Release me now little girl before I deal with you.

Chimamanda: hahahahaha, I love your guts, you are tied down, you are the one who is helpless, yet you are the one threatening. Ikenna have you seen that kind of thing before?

Ikenna: I am just seeing it now o ( they both burst out laughing)

The warrior began to look around him and the place looked very familiar to him.

Warrior head: where am I? Where have you brought me?

Chimamanda: Look very well, maybe you will remember.

Ikenna: sister, don't stress his old brains let me remind him. (Turns to the warrior) you really don't know where you are right? You are in EKEH! (The warrior’s eyes shone so bright, you could see fear all over him) and do you remember this room? This is the same room where you killed the igwe and his wife, my father and my mother, our parents.

Warrior head: You are the Prince? And the princess. (Turns to the princess) but you told us he was dead.

Chimamanda: were you expecting me to tell you he was alive? So you would hunt him down and kill him? You are so daft to even think I was going to do that. Oh! So you thought I was foolish because I was so young right? You are obviously more stupid than I thought

Ikenna: you had the right to refuse orders given to you by your wicked king, you could have spared my parents like Aguyi spared my sister, you could have spared my people if you wanted to but you chose to carry out the wicked orders of your wicked king because of your selfish interest and what you stood to gain.(Aguyi stepped into the room)

Warrior head: Aguyi, Aguyi, so you have taken sides with our enemies.

Aguyi: enemies? These children are my children and you and your evil king are the real enemies.

Warrior head: your order was to kill the princess but you spared her and lied to the king and the entire village. And now you’ve taken sides with them. You betray your own people. Release me now and I will tell the king to spare you and forgive you and give you a smaller punishment

Aguyi: what village did I betray? What foolish and wicked order did I betray? An order to kill a smart brilliant and beautiful child? I couldn’t do that, I am not like you. You killed those innocent people, women and children, they cried and begged you but I watched you kill them, and set some ablaze, your conscience didn't p---k you for once. And all this years you were able to live with yourself. Ah! Ah! I rather be here where I find peace and joy than be at OKU where the stench of blood has taken over.

Chimamanda: you boasted on how you killed my parents right? How you stabbed them, you were happy, you won the battle right? Today is judgement day for you.

Warrior head: Aguyi, are you going to stand there and watch them kill me?

Aguyi: no, I won’t watch them kill you, am going to help them rid this world of one more evil.

(And Aguyi went out and came back with a big black bag)

Warrior head: What is that? What is in the bag.

Chimamanda: oh,its nothing. Just some poisonous snakes I brought to keep you company.

Warrior head: You can’t do this to me, please don't leave them here please.

Ikenna: did the people of Ekeh beg you? Was this how they cried for you to spare them? Did you spare anyone? Just one, did you?

The warrior head was crying silently. Ikenna and chimamanda walked out of the room and aguyi releases the snakes and closed the door behind him as the snakes crawled all over the warrior head biting him. Tears flowed down from chimamanda’s eyes as he heard the warrior scream out in pains.

Obiageri woke up in the morning and didn't find her husband by her side. She wondered where he had gone to. She was used to him leaving the house in the mornings like that before, but he was no longer the warrior head, he had appointed someone else and since then she had always woken up with him by her side. When she didn't see him, she assumed he was outside talking with Odogwu who stormed their house yesterday seeking for help.

Obiageri didn't want the warrior head to take them in because the whole village was aware of how Odogwu had betrayed his own brother in EKEH and sold his land away. She was also aware of his wicked plot to take away people's lands in the village. She had told her husband that they can’t stay with them because of their wickedness, but the warrior head had said that it was temporary and the king would reward them and that was why she had accepted for them to stay.

She wondered what he might be discussing with Odogwu at this early hour and so she tied a wrapper to her chest and stepped out. When she got outside, what she saw almost made her faint. There he was lying very cold and dead outside his own house. Obiageri let out a loud cry that awoken both neighbours and people around. Odogwu ran outside to know what was going on, and then he saw the warrior head on the ground, lying dead. His body was swollen from the various stings and venoms fron the snakes that bit him.

Odogwu: gods of our land! What is this? What is going on? How did this happen? What happened

Obiageri was still crying and shouting as people began to troop in to console her. Odogwu was confused. He knew there was trouble and he knew exactly where the trouble was coming from. He quickly ran inside and grabbed his walking stick.

Obiageri: and where are you going to? Where are you going to wicked man?

I told my husband not of let u stay here but he would not hear me, I warned him about you that anywhere you go, you carry misfortune with you, but he did not hear me. Where is he now? Where? she shouted.

Odogwu: but I don't know what happened to him. I’ve been inside sleeping.

Obiageri: how would you know, how would you? Please I don’t want trouble, quietly take your wife and kids and leave my house. I don't want trouble.

Odogwu: please! Be merciful, I do not know what happened to him.

Obiageri: please leave, or do you want to kill any other person? Do you want to kill me? Carry your bad luck and wickedness and leave. When you’ve not come here we’ve been living in peace but just one day you came here my husband Is dead. Abeg go go abeg. Leave my house.

Odogwu held his wife and two kids and left the place. He had no where else to go, nobody was ready to help him and the only person who would have helped him now is dead. He decided to go back to the palace and plead with the Queen , maybe she would let him speak with the king to show him mercy!

Episode 38

It's the 9th day since anyone set their eyes on king Azaza, words have begun to fly round, that the Queen had done something to him, but the Queen cared less of whatever anyone said about her. Nina had invited her two faithful guards to come with a truck and wait for her at the back of the palace and they were already there waiting for her. She went into the room where the king was still tied up.

She opened the wardrobe and pushed out king Azaza who was now very weak, he was rotten from legs up to his waist. He was so weak and could barely talk. Part of his hands was also rotten from his shoulder down. Queen Nina looked at him and untied him, because she knew he couldn’t go anywhere even if he wanted to.

Queen Nina: Look at you, oh mighty king Azaza

King Azaza: (softly) please, please let me go, I beg you. My son needs me, please don't let me die here.

Queen Nina: I thought you would scream, why ain’t you commanding and screaming anymore, why are you begging?

King Azaza: please, spare me, please. I don't want to die, please.

Queen Nina: I need two things from you,

King Azaza: whatever you want just say it and its yours, just don't let me die here please.

Queen Nina: Firstly, you will give me the Royal ring you collected from my princess the day you ordered her to be killed secondly you will give me the key to your treasure chamber.

King Azaza: yes! I will give it to you. As long as you take me to my son. The keys to the chambers is inside my crown, check inside you will see it.

Queen Nina: And the royal ring?

King Azaza: The royal ring is inside the chamber among other treasures

Nina quickly lifted up the crown and turned it round, and the golden key fell off. She waited for a while until it was a little bit dark, she knew the Prince had gone to bed, and she asked the guards to step aside and take a break. When they had left she went to the chamber and opened it. She was so surprised to see the riches of OKU. the land was indeed blessed by the gods with gold. She called in the two guards and asked them to load the trucks with the treasures. While they were loading, she spotted the royal ring and she quickly picked it up.

They made sure to take a good amount of gold from the chamber until their trucks were filled up and they could no longer carry. The treasures that was left was still very much but they couldn’t take more even if they wanted to. Then she carefully locked up the chambers and kept the key in her breast pocket. Then she followed the guards and they went straight to Ikenna and Chimamanda. Chimamanda started crying again when she saw the golds.

Ikenna: It was for these that my parents were killed. It was for these gold that my entire kingdom was wiped out.

Chimamanda: EKEH may not have golds like OKU, but we didn’t even need them. We were happy the way we were.

Nina: what do we do with them.

Ikenna: we do not have need for them, but we will keep them.

Chimamanda: Yes, we will keep them, from now on they are ours.

Nina: There is still more than enough in OKU, I saw them with my eyes.

Chimamanda: Let them be. We also have more than enough here.

(Nina brought out the ring and gave it to the princess.)

Nina: my princess, here is your ring. (She stretches it with a bow to the princess)

Chimamanda: don't bow to me Nina, how can a senior sister bow to her junior sister, you are my sister. And if not for you we will not be alive, and non of these would be happening. You are a princess and a princess does not bow for another princess, but a junior princess can bow down for a senior princess. So thank you (chimamanda knelt down before Nina, who was already filled with tears, she lifted the princess up and gave her a tight hug).

Nina: The king is almost dead, I don't think I have any more duty to do in that palace.

Chimamanda: dear brother, what do we do now. You are the king, so make the decision.

Ikenna: we return back to Ekeh, our father's land, we build it and build our people.

Nina: what about Odogwu, the polluted rivers and streams?

Chimamanda: and the Prince?

Nina: yes and the Prince.

Ikenna: Let the gods deal with Odogwu, the way they are dealing with Azaza. As for their streams, if they need solution let them seek it. For the Prince, I can’t answer that. Nina that is a question only you have the answer to. But for now let’s go to Ekeh, our people are waiting!

Episode 39.

Odogwu got to the palace with his wife and kids and met the place empty, he walked around for a while and then he sat down on a chair waiting for whoever will come. After waiting for almost two hours prince Nnamdi came from his room. Odogwu stood up when he saw him.

Odogwu: my Prince, welcome I’ve been waiting for a while.

Prince Nnamdi: where are the guards.

Odogwu: I dont know I met the place like this.

(Nnamdi called out to one of the maids and she came immediately)

Prince Nnamdi: where are the guards ?

Maid: The queen sent them home last night.

Prince Nnamdi: sent them home? Why?

Maid: I dont know my Prince.

Prince Nnamdi: where is the queen?

Maid: I dont know my Prince, she hasn’t been out of her room today.

The Prince stepped aside and went to Nina’s room. He knocked on the door a number of times and there was no response, he kept on knocking but no answer, and so he gently pushed open the door. The smell that came out of the room was so strong that he started coughing. He pushed open the door wide. And he saw his father the king on the floor almost unconscious. He quickly shouted for help, and the maids came running, including Odogwu. Together they carried the king and took him outside to another room.

King Azaza: wa…, wa…., water….water, I need wat…….er.

Prince Nnamdi: Get him water.

( the maid ran out only to come back empty handed)

Prince Nnamdi: Where is the water?

Maid: There is no water anywhere my Prince, the little water we had is finished.

Prince Nnamdi: go into the village, anywhere you find water, get water please…. And tell the guards to come immediately. Someone also should run and call me the ezemmuo.

(There was a mix running in the palace. The maids were scattered around looking for water, while Odogwu and his family ran to fetch the chief priest)

King Azaza: Nnamdi, ge ge get me waaaterrr,

Prince Nnamdi: Father there is no water anymore, the land is sick, people are dying, no water anywhere….

(The king pointed to a cup that was lying on the floor and the Prince picked it up for him, he placed the cup in between his legs and urinated on it. It was very small urine that came out, and before the Prince could ask what was happening, the king drank all of the urine)

Prince Nnamdi: Father, you just drank your own urine…

Just then, odogwu returned with the ezemmuo.

Prince Nnamdi: ezemmo, look at my father, it was a small nail that pierced him and now look at his whole body. Please do something.

Chief priest: Nnamdi, it was not just a small nail. It was the punishment the gods had kept for the king that he received.

Prince Nnamdi: Ezemmuo how do you mean?

Chief priest: The king is receiving the punishment for all the evil he did, and the innocent bloods he shed.

Prince Nnamdi: please Ezemmuo, do something you can’t let my father die, he is the king, please do something.

Chief priest: he seized to be the king a long time ago. The gods no longer recognizes him as the king. My Prince, the gods have since chosen you as the king of OKU, your father was just a shadow sitting on your throne.

Prince Nnamdi: okay, I have heard you, but please do something and heal him please.

Chief priest: I can’t help him, he must go back to where it all began. He must go back and kiss the soil with which he flooded with innocent blood. Only then can he find redemption. (the chief priest turns and walks away)

Prince Nnamdi: Ezemmuo, please come back, don't go, come back, I still don't understand, where did it begin? I don't understand you Ezemmuo.

Odogwu: Ekeh! He is talking about Ekeh!

Prince Nnamdi: And how do you know that?

Odogwu: Because it all started with me.

Prince Nnamdi: But EKEH is no more, there is no one in EKEH, how do we go to a land where there is nobody.

Odogwu: There is somebody in EKEH! ,your father’s new wife, the queen is from Ekeh and I believe she has returned.

Prince Nnamdi: what? Nina? From Ekeh?

Episode 40

Semi finale!

Prince Ikenna, Princess Nina and Princess Chimamanda were all sited on their well designed chairs in the palace of EKEH, a royal swat was also made for Ajuwe and Aguyi. They had been informed by the guards that they had visitors from Oku. And Ikenna asked the guards to bring them in. Prince Nnamdi, Odogwu, the chief priest and some of the villagers and some guards all came in.

When Prince Nnamdi saw Nina beautifully sited on her beautiful chair, his heart skipped, he remembered when Nina had told him that her parents were killed by a wicked man, he quickly understood why she did what she had done. The guards dropped the king on the ground.

Prince Ikenna: what is this man doing in my father’s land?

Princess Chimamanda: what does this evil man want here?

Chief priest: (bowing to Ikenna) igweeeeee, may you live long, the first time I saw you, the gods revealed to me that you are a great king. Azaza has been rejected by the gods long before now, and its the same gods who has sent him here.

Princess Chimamanda: he has no business here, why has the gods sent him here.

AZAZA: (falls on his face to the ground creeping, he crawls to the feet of the Prince and Princesses) forgive me, please forgive me your highness-es. Forgive me, the gods have punished me. Please forgive me.

Princess Chimamanda: your forgiveness is with the gods, so take your wicked self and leave here at once.

Prince Nnamdi: (to chimamanda) I knew you were special, from the moment you healed Nina. I knew you were special but i didn’t know, you were that little girl that was tied up that day, I tried to talk with my father to spare you, do you remember? Please Chima, please heal my father, forgive him and heal him.

Princess Chimamanda: I cannot heal him, his sickness was caused by the gods so i cannot heal him. I won’t even if I could. But fortunately I can’t heal him. Only the gods can.

Prince Nnamdi: But you can at least forgive him. Ezemmuo has said if you don't forgive him, he will remain like this and not die. Please forgive him so that even if he won’t be cured he can die and rest.

Nina: Even death is too good for your father. Do you have an idea the wickedness your father did? The evil he caused?

Ikenna: do you know how many blood he shed? Do you know he would have killed my sisters and I if he had the chance, your father deserves to suffer a fate worse than this

AZAZA: Please forgive me am begging you. I don't even want to be cured. Let me just die and rest please.

Nina: Die and rest? Rest where? There is no rest for you anywhere.

AZAZA: Forgive me o, please forgive me o, it was ODOGWU o, odogwu came and lied to me o, and deceived me o, please forgive me o.

Prince Nnamdi: shut up father, just shut up. Odogwu came and lied to you but you took decisions on your own. He didn't force you to wipe out EKEH, did he? You didn't even verify his story, even when I asked you to. Did you? Whatever decision you made, you made them all by yourself, because you wanted to. So shut up and don't complicate issues for me.

Ikenna: Take him and leave our land, we have nothing to offer him. He seeks forgiveness from the dead, not from us.

(Azaza suddenly started crawling again, he crawled outside the palace from one door step to the other, crying and asking for forgiveness, the sand and dust filled his mouth but he didn't care, he kept on crawling even in the sun from morning till night, ikenna and the girls started feeling sorry for him, the entire village came out to see how the mighty king Azaza was creeping on his stomach on the ground. Aguyi and Ajuwe shook their head in pity for him. Even the chief priest was filled with pity for the igwe. finally he got to where the king and queen were buried.)

AZAZA: (tired and weak) Obama my friend, I know you are watching me, I know you are there seeing my heart, and you know how truly sorry I am, I betrayed our friendship, I betrayed the unity shared by our villages. I killed your people and almost killed your children. Such wonderful children you’ve got I must say. See how single-handedly they’ve rebuilt your land.

My friend please forgive me. I am so sorry for everything, I do not want to be cured, I just want to die peacefully. Please let the blood of the people of EKEH whom i shed, let their spirits forgive me. (And the king remained there till night came, the guards wanted to bring him in but he refused. And Prince Nnamdi told them to let him be. By morning the next day, he was dead. Right in front on where king Obama and his wife were buried. The Prince wept for a while and told the guards to bring his body back home. But the chief priest stopped him)

Chief priest: my Prince, the gods finally let your father the king die, but he does not have a place in the midst of the ancestors. He cannot be buried on any soil. He is to be thrown into the evil forest to be feasted upon by wild animals and vultures. That is where his spirit belongs.

Chief priest: As for you Odogwu, you cannot remain in this land either, the gods forbid that you return to OKU or remain in EKEH. you are now an outcast in both lands. You are to go with your wicked igwe into the evil forest. If you survive there good for you. But you are never to return to these lands. The day you do, that day you will die. Now leave this place.

(Odogwu was wailing as the guards escorted him out of EKEH into the evil forest with his wife and two kids crying behind.

Nnamdi cried bitterly for his father, as the guards picked him up and carried him away)

Season finale

It was a huge celebration as Prince Ikenna was crowned King of EKEH land. There were lots of food and drinks and lots of dancing.

Ajuwe and Aguyi have started a relationship that was leading somewhere. The kids pretended like they don't see what was happening between the two oldies but secretly they plan and pray that there would be a marriage celebration in the palace soon.

The king had declared Ajuwe as the KING’S MOTHER and AGUYI as the KING’S father. Even Nkechi was made a princess, everybody danced and celebrated, it was like the opening of a new house.

Ikenna had addressed his people and promised them a leading that was peaceful, friendly and supporting. The people clapped and cheered for the young new king. KING IKENNA OBAMA OF EKEH LAND!

Chimamanda dressed in her royal attire, danced, swaying to the rhythm of the drum. And then she notices Nina sited alone looking sad.

Chimamanda: Princess, why do you look so sad.

Nina : sister, I can’t stop thinking of him, I can imagine what he is going through now. I wish I could be there for him and help him through his pains.

Chimamanda: you miss him that much.

(She nods her head), then go to him.

Nina: I wish I can, he hates me, after all that has happened between his father and I, I don't think he will have anything to do with me. He didn't even look back when he was leaving the other day. He hates me.

Chimamanda: well, I don't know how these things work, but I still think you should go to him.

Nina: princess what about their waters, have u restored it for them?

Chimamanda: Yes, I did same day the wicked king died. The people shouldn’t have to suffer anymore for their igwe’s sin

Nina: Thank you so much sister.

(A guard walks up to them and inform them that the king wanted to see them, they held their hands and walked into the palace. Nnamdi was there)

King IKENNA: Behold my two beautiful sisters.

(Nina stopped when she saw Nnamdi and the chief priest)

King Ikenna: sister, King Nnamdi is here to see you.

King Nnamdi: Nina, after everything that has happened, I do not intend to wait any longer, I do not care what happened between you and my father……..

Nina: nothing happened between me and your father.

Chief priest: yes my king, nothing happened between your father and the queen. From beginning she has been destined to be your bride, and I married her to the king which to the gods is you and not your dad. So she is already your wife and the queen of OKU.

King Nnamdi: Nina did you hear that? You are already my wife, (he lifted her up and danced around the palace)

King Ikenna: I disagree, (everyone was shocked as they turned to the king in surprise.

King Ikenna: my sister will not have that kind of a wedding. I disagree. There will be a proper marriage in this palace.

Chimamanda: yes o, I concur

(Everyone burst out laughing. Aguyi and Ajuwe walked in).

Aguyi: attention everyone, we have something to tell the house.

.

Nkechi: I think I have an idea of this announcement.

Aguyi: Well, I have decided to marry Ajuwe……(there was a loud sound of clapping and shouts of joy in the palace)

King Ikenna: sound the alarm, let there be rejoicing and celebration, there is going to be a double marriage celebration in the palace…..

(The sound of rejoicing filled the air) Alas, Ekeh is reborn and the Obama legacy is reclaimed.

Chimamanda: alas EKEH has gotten her REVENGE!
